Deepika's POV:
I went to my aunt's house for my holidays so that I can spend some time with my cousin before she leaves for her work. Aarthi was selected in the campus interview but she hasn't received her proper call letter yet. So she was waiting for that.
My aunt's house was closer to Meera's house.
I would go for a walk in the evening with my cousin. We would watch films together and spend the days doing nothing useful.
And I was constantly feeling bad. Arjun was ignoring me. I couldn't wrap my mind around it. The last time he talked properly with me was on the day of our viva. All I remember is that I didn't tell anything that could hurt him. I did try to text him after that, but he didn't respond.
I was rolling on the bed scrolling through my phone. I was in Aarthi's room. My cousin had gone out to meet some of her friends. My uncle hadn't come from the office yet and my aunty was busy cleaning the house.
Suddenly I got a notification in messenger.
" Vijay : Hi "
It was my second cousin. We have seen each other in family functions and that's it. We were of the same age, he was around 3 months older than me. Why was he suddenly texting me out of blue ?
" Deepika: Hi "
" Vijay : How are you ? "
" Deepika : I am good. "
He had joined in some engineering college near my home town. He was asking me about my course and blah blah blah. We exchanged phone numbers. He was also in his semester vacation, he had joined B.E mechanical engineering. He was a drummer in his college band. He was venting about how strict his college is and I am lucky to not have joined there.
" Vijay : Let me tell you a secret "
" Deepika : okay, I will keep it a secret"
" Vijay : I met a girl last year. I didn't think about it seriously. But after going to college, the realisation dawned on me. "
" Deepika: What realisation? "
" Vijay : That I had fallen head over heels in love with her. I was hallucinating her everywhere. "
" Deepika: Seems like a love at first sight story "
" Vijay : Nope , not really. I had known that girl for so many years. But it all happened rather suddenly. "
What an idiot , I hate love at first sight stories. And why was he telling me all this shit ! , I thought we could be friends. But my gut is telling me to stop texting him.
" Vijay : That spark happened this year March. "
" Deepika: During our public exams ? "
" Vijay : Before our public exams. In a relative's wedding, she was wearing a pink half saree"
Typical idiot, that is not even love,,,,,,,,,,
Wait a minute,,,,,,,
Relative's wedding?
I attended one before the public exams too. Did I see that girl too then ?
Shit,, I was the one wearing pink half saree.
" Vijay : Trying to fool you ,,, haaha haah "
" Deepika: haahahha " , I typed nervously. Thank God, it wasn't me.
" Vijay : I was lying to see what you would reply. "
" Deepika: that prank was unnecessary"
" Vijay : No, I mean, I really meant you. "
