The golf cart carrying the five of us skidded to a halt.
"In this land of ours, there are many great pits," Mr. Pines started. "But none more bottomless than the bottomless pit. Which, as you can see here, is bottomless."
"Question. Is it bottomless?" Soos asked.
Mr. Pines sighed. "Kids, could one of you try explaining this to Soos?"
"Grunkle Stan, why are we here again?" Dipper asked.
"To dispose of things that we don't want," Mr. Pines explained. "So long, Mystery Shack suggestion cards." Tons of yellow papers flew out of his coat pockets.
"Goodbye, creepy love letters from Li'l Gideon." Mabel tossed them in. "Die! Die!"
Soos tossed his shoes in.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Throwing stuff, dudette. Everyone's doing it!" Soos pointed out. Soos also threw a grill into the pit.
Mabel pushed a heavy box through the dirt. I looked at her in confusion.
"Whatcha got there, Mabel?" Mr. Pines asked, still tossing in the papers.
"It's just my personal box of mysterious secrets," Mabel admitted. "Nothing worth wondering about." She pushed the box in. "Goodbye forever!"
If only I could fit all my problems into a box.
I pulled out a small box from my coat. Something I've been meaning to get rid of. The bowtie symbol on the black box meant it was for me. I could detect something in it, so I didn't dare to open the box. I gently tossed it in. Tears threatened my eyes as I instantly regretted it. But I knew he could have given it to me to be easier to take over my mind.
"Grunkle Stan, do I really have to be the one to point out that a bottomless pit is, by definition, impossible?" Dipper asked.
Mr. Pines smacked his hat repeatedly. "Says you."
Mabel shrugged. "Well, I guess we'll never know."
Suddenly, dark gray clouds flew over the Mystery Shack. Wind arrived with it, making it hard to stand straight. Dipper grabbed my hand, frightened by the sudden change in the weather. I put my arm against it, shielding my eyes.
"It's some sort of invisible pushing force!" Soos shouted.
"Quick! Everyone back to the shack!" Dipper ordered.
Soos, Dipper, Mabel, and I started to run.
"I'm not done getting rid of these yet!" Mr. Pines protested. The yellow papers kept sticking to him.
We ran over to him, trying to get him back to the house. "Almost. Almost. Almost."
The five of us fell into the bottomless pit, screaming.
~~~
We continued to scream for a moment, then stopped. I didn't feel like I was falling. Rather, I felt like I was floating in the air like a fan was under me, lifting me into the sky. We looked around, realizing we were not dead yet.
"So, anyone wanna scream some more?" Soos asked.
"Where are we?" I wondered out loud.
Mabel smiled and pulled a glow stick out of her pocket. She cracked it, lighting the area. "You just happened to have one?"
"You never know when fun is going to happen," Mabel reasoned. "We're somewhere where it looks like we're nowhere."
"We're gonna land on something eventually," Dipper stated. "Could be any second now!"
