Ever since the Countess discovered that her daughter was particularly being targeted, she had completely dismissed the betrothal announcement to a certain Bridgerton. The Earl had penned a letter explaining the situation to the Viscount Bridgerton, apologizing for the unforeseen delay, and asking if they could return to England to help with the problem.

Benedict relayed the news to his mother, who, at first delighted, soon grew extremely worried for Aaliyah. With that, she invited the Williams family for dinner.

Aaliyah stood before her mirror, eyeing herself as she took several nervous breaths. "Are you feeling alright?" The Countess appeared by the door frame, concern etched on her face.

"Just when everything was going right..." Aaliyah trailed off. The Countess gave a sympathetic smile, placing a comforting hand on her daughter's shoulder and turning her to face her. "I know, sweetheart. But do not fear, we are all here for you."

Aaliyah smiled before hugging her mother, who initially widened her eyes in surprise before returning the embrace.

The Williams family made their way across the street to the Bridgerton estate, where they were welcomed by Violet, who greeted them with a huge smile. "Welcome! We are so glad to have you!" she exclaimed, holding Aaliyah's hand with an excited smile.

"We are very honored by the invitation, Lady Violet," Aaliyah replied with a smile.

"Oh, please, we are to be family now," Violet said before hugging her, making the blonde softly chuckle and hug back. "Hogging my fiancée now, are you, Mama?" Benedict teased as he approached the Williams family.

"Earl, Countess," he greeted softly, bowing before kissing the gloved hand of the Williams matriarch, who smiled at the gesture. Benedict looked at his fiancée, who stood beside his mother, smiling, making his heart feel like it would burst.

"Well, we have a lovely dinner prepared for you," Violet said with a smile as she led them to the dining room. Aaliyah glided to Benedict and looped her hand through his arm, the couple falling a few steps behind their family. "Did you sleep well, Liyah?" he asked, placing his other hand on top of hers.

"It was quite alright, though it was lonely without you beside me," she smirked up at him, while he gave a cheeky grin back.

"Liyah, someone might hear you and cause a scandal! I might have to marry you," he whispered, looking around as if someone might overhear and they would be in trouble.

"Too bad, you're already marrying me, Ben," she whispered back, causing them to giggle among themselves before he caught her lips with his for a quick peck.
