CHAPTER 2

*Lunas Pov*
I walked into the gymnasium with Nika and Ice by my side. Me and the girls all got along minus Paige. Coach wanted to have a last minute practice/meeting to discuss upcoming games and to introduce me to the team. I set my stuff down in the locker room and jogged out to the gym. I met the team and sat down in a chair as they were all watching the TV that was playing their past game. Coach was pointing out things that they needed to improve on. Paige was standing beside him, leaning on a crutch that was under her armpit. She looked at me with a pissed off look. I was only a a couple minutes late because I need to get fitted for my jersey. I don't know why she was like this. I looked away from her and gave my attention to the TV. I zoned out for most of the practice. Geno then clapped his hands together making me come back to earth.

"Let's do some drills! Okay make two lines in front of the net, I wanna see quick rebounds here." Geno said as he took a seat on the bench. Paige crutched her way over to the net. She passed a ball to Ines who was in front of a line and Ines started the drill. It was my turn I caught the ball from the net and ran it back to the paint line "NO! Hey you" Paige pointed at me, doesn't she know my name? "Why are you dribbling the ball like that?" Paige said aggressively, the team all looked at Paige confused. I was litterlay just dribbling the ball, I don't know why she was commenting on that. "Like what?" I said hesitantly. "Do I seriously have to explain myself?? Dribble it double time then you take the shot!" Paige almost screamed (also i dont know basketball terms so don't come at me) I looked over at Geno who was busy talking to someone. I dropped the ball and went to the back of line frustrated.

When it came my turn agian I drilled 'double time' so Paige wouldn't flip on me agian. I felt her watching me, I went to shoot at the 3 and got nervous and it missed. "SERIOUSLY WE SHOULDNT BE MISSING 3'S!" Paige screamed at me, I was so done. Azzi just went before me and she missed so why am I getting yelled at when she did the same thing. I walked over to Geno. "May I be excused?" I said hoping Geno would get a hint. Thankfully he did and I ran back to the locker room. I ripped off my shoes and tan my fingers through my hair. I grabbed my keys and drove back to the dorms.

"Hey why did you leave so early" Nika said as she plopped down next to me on my bed. "I was just tired" I lied. Nika knew me better then I knew myself, she always knew when something was up, so she could easily tell I was lying. "Stop lying Lune, was it cause of Paige?" I nodded my head annoyed to hear her name "I don't know why she hates me so much" I said frustrated "I don't know either, I mean I have never seen her like this. Maybe you should talk to her" Nika said getting up from the bed. "I'm gonna shower, we're all gonna go clubbing tonight, come?" "I guess" I said. I went on my phone and scrolled through TikTok.

A couple hours later the girls were all waiting to leave for the club. We were waiting for Nika to hurry up, as always. She took forever to get ready. I was wearing a black silky but leathery mini skirt with a black sparkly tube top and a red lip. I had my brunette hair down and flowy. I also had a white puffery jacket on that had basketball patches on it. Paige crutched down the hallway and I swear I almost melted right there. She was wearing low waisted cargo pants that were camouflaged and a white tank top on that cut off near her neck but had a scoop. Her hair was straightened and it framed her face perfectly. She looked H.O.T and she knew it. She came out of her room confident and I'm pretty sure she saw me staring.

We all loaded into Paige's car and Azzis car. I went in Azzis cause she also likes Olivia Rodgrigo so I could have someone to listen to it with. When we got to the club Paige's car crew was already there. They were sitting in the back of the club at a table. Aubrey was at the bar and she was carrying over shots for everyone. "THE PARTYS HERE" Nika said dancing to the table. I knew she was getting wasted tonight, and honestly I wanted to too. "Shots on 3 let's go! 1, 2, 3!" Aubrey yelled as we all downed the shots. "Woo Hoo!" I've yelled shaking her head. "Let's dance!!" Nika said dragging Azzi to the dance floor. I laughed and sat down at the table. Of course the only seat available was directly across from Paige.

"You guys ready for the game this weekend?" Caroline said "Oh ya! Iowa is going down!" Ice said. Iowa was a tough team to beat, especially since Caitlin was on it. Nika had told me all these stories about her and she honestly sounds like a badass. I knew Paige hated her. And I also knew that if I didn't win this game Paige would be pissed at me. I feel bad for her, she couldn't play cause of her injury and she had to watch her whole team play without her. The team chatted and I pitched in occasionally but not to often cause I was shy and I could feel Paige's eyes on me.

"I'm leaving whos coming?" Paige said, I think that's the first word she said all night. I really wanted to leave, I was tired and didn't feel like dancing with Azzi and Nika. Azzi wouldn't be leaving anytime soon so I really wanted to leave but I couldn't go with Paige. "I'll go" Ines said. "Me too" I whispered and felt Paige look at me. I didn't make eye contact, I just grabbed my purse and walked away. "Oh my gosh I am so so sorry! That was totally my bad" A blonde friendly smile said as she bumped into me knocking my purse out of my hand. She looked down at me as she was about an inch taller than me. I was pretty short for a basketball player. The girl picked up my purse and handed it to me, brushing my hand. "I'm Kate!" She said as she went to shake my hand. "Ya ya get a move on Martin she don't want you" Paige says tapping her shoulder. Paige dragged you out of the bar and you waited to talk until you were near the car. "What the hell Paige! She was hot why did you tell her to back off!" I said. Paige ignored you and she slid into the drivers seat. Ines got the passenger seat so you got into the middle seat of the back. The car ride home was silent. A little awkward actually. Thank god Ines was there cause if she wasn't it would be very awkward.

When we got to the dorms Paige went straight to her room. "Weird" Ines said looking at Paige's door. "Goodnight Lune" Ines said walking to the opposite hallway "Night" I said opening my door and flopping down on the bed.
