Abigail was in her apartment working her end of year project, which was due at the end of the month. Her head is starting to hurt with all the work she put in today. She looks at the clock, it reads 11pm. She has been working on her project for 5 hours straight. The project was worth a quarter of her final grade in her advanced criminal class. This was her last semester in college, and so far, she was at the top of her class of Criminal Justice majors.
She looks down at her work about a serial killer in New Orleans in the 1930s, who was never caught until he was killed in a hunting accident. By all counts, Alastor was a charming and charismatic radio host with no enemies, but he had a dark side. After police discovered his burial grounds, it was discovered he killed one person a week. 21 male bodies were found, but the police believe there are more that were never found. One detail that is very interesting is that 10 of the victims were known criminals or were accused of some crime.
This is what drew Abigail to this killer for her project. That was almost half his victims were criminals. Most of them were thieves, two were accused of rape but never went to trial , and one went to trial on rape but was found not guilty. Of course, that was in 1929, and the lawer attacked the victim. Abigail had read the transcripts, and the lawer degraded the poor victim on the stand. It was her fault for going to the party, having drinks, dancing with the accused, and flirting with him. Abigail knows this still happens today.
Abigail started looking into Alastor's other victims' lives and found 3 more had ties to other criminals. She looked through old newspaper articles and noticed when other people disappeared in the area of New Orleans also with criminal ties or accused of some crime. Of course this was normal for that time period with organized crime.
With that in mind, Abigail started looking for recordings of Alastor's radio show. She was lucky to find 10 old vinyl records of his broadcast. She theorized that when Alastor reported the news he would pay more attention to the people were missing because he knew what happened to them. Some serial killers love to tease the police or drag the media into it because they crave the attention. Alastor being a radio host could bring attention to his crimes, with cover of just doing his job.
Abigail was going to listen to these records and listen for the names of his victims or the other names of the missing people to see what he said about them. Like maybe his voice would change, maybe get a little excited when telling about that person. She wanted to see if her theory had any merit.
She was tired, but she wanted to at least listen to one record before bed. She was curious about what his voice sounded like. She put the record on the wrecker player and started it up.
"Good morning, ladies and gents. This is Alastor with the morning news." Well, his voice was perfect for radio. His voice was smooth and sounded confident. Abigail sat back to listen for a while and she would analyze everything later. She was tired and it was getting harder to stay awake.
(Alastor pov)
Alastor was walking down the streets of hell when his ears picked up a familiar voice coming from Earth. It was HIS voice from when he was a famous radio host. His grin grew mischievous because he now had a connection to the living world and go for a visit. There are only a few ways an overlord demon could visit the living world and one was to have a strong connection with something they had when living and his radio show was his pride and joy when he was living. He would have to stay close his host and that would be whatever was playing his show. He can attach himself to it. The only problem with that would be he can only go to the living world when his show was playing and that would just not do. Maybe, he could make a deal with the person who was playing his show. The living always want something. Plus, they would have no choice but to make a deal for their soul or to die tonight by his hand. When a deal is made with a living person that demon go to the living world any time they want. The only catch is that they have to stay close to that living person. Of course, the demon can make the person go anywhere the demon wanted. This will be very entertaining. With a snap of fingers, Alastor traveled to the living world.
(Abigail pov)
I was starting to doze off, when a loud pop startled her awake. I look to where the sound came from and sees lime green smoke in the area near the kitchen. "Shit! What cause a fire? And why does it look like a disney villain is about to show up?" I can't help to 6 i start to get up to grab the fire extinguisher to put out the fire, the smoke clears, and standing there is a male figure dressed all in red.
The male figure is terrifying. His hair is a bob-cut, two tuffs of hair with black tips pointing up (ears maybe), and what look like deer antlers on top of his head. He is dressed in a pinstripe suit that looks rough around the edges. What I noticed is his terrified is the eyes and smile. The eyes are glowing red and a smile that shows very sharp teeth.
The man in red starts moving towards me with his hands behind his back. When he reaches my desk, he starts looking through my papers dealing with my research. I just watching as I am frozen in fear in my desk chair.
He picks up one of the old newspapers and looks it over. Then he looks at me with that huge grin and says, "It would seem I have a fan of my work when I was alive."
