Abigail's POV
We arrived in an alley back in downtown New Orleans. I hear Christmas music playing and wonderful smells hit my nose, but I can't enjoy it. Someone is going to be hunted, tortured, and killed, and there is nothing I can do about it. I am a sworn officer of the law, and I can't stop this. It's eating at me.
"Alright, my dear. We are going to look around and look like normal tourists until I find my prey." The Demon tells me.
"Ok," I say in a quiet voice, looking down at the ground.
The demon turns around and looks at me. He puts a hand under my chin and lifts my face to look at his. I still have tears going down my face.
While in his demon form, he never drops his smile, but in his human form, he does. It's so he can look normal. His face turns to one of concern.
"Come on now, smile. This won't take long, and by the time I am done, it will be dark. We can come back and see all the lights lit up. I saw a poster for Celebration in the Oaks. I really think it would be something you would enjoy. Plus, I can't have people asking you what's wrong and bringing attention to us. So can you at least stop the crying and try to look like you are having a good time." The Demon says.
"Then you need to use that leash of mine and make it an order. I can't fake being happy right now," I tell while looking at him.
He didn't like this response, but instead of getting angry, he actually looks sad.
"Please try. I really don't want to force any emotions on you in that way," he says hopefully.
"Why not use the leash? It will make things easier for you. That's why it's there for you get your way," I say.
The demon grabs the bridge of his nose and sighs. He looks back at me.
"Is that what you want? For me to start using the leash very time, I want to do something. You know that's not what I want to do. I have told you, want you to enjoy these trips. Now, you want to have a tantrum because I am going to hunt and torture a soul that deserves it. I never hid my intentions of causing mayhem in this world. Now, stop that crying, calm yourself down, and think about what you want out of this agreement. If you want to stay stubborn and start being dragged around, so be it or expect this is going to happen today and will happen again. It's your choice. I will not be making this choice for you." He says, looking me in the eyes. After his say he let's go of my face.
His face does not show any emotion, but I can tell he is serious about both things. He does want me to enjoy what we do, but he will not stop hunting just because of my morals.
"Can you really call it a tantrum? I am standing up to you for what I think is right. It's more like a protest."
"Ok. It's a protest, and some protests don't change a thing, like this one won't. So once again, take the time to think over what I said. Are you ready to go?"
"I guess I ready as I will ever be."
He puts his arm out for me take. I look at thinking, really.
"Could I just tag along beside you this time?" I back to the point where I don't want to touch him.
The demon sighs.
"Yes. Come along and don't wonder off..."
"Or you will use my leash to find me got it," I say sarcastically and with an eye roll.
He stops and looks at me again.
"Yes, but the more important reason we are in a rougher side of town. I don't want you to get hurt," he says.
