Alastor's POV
I decided for the rest of the week that I would just watch her life from the shadows. She did sound like she had a a lot on her plate and she really did.
It's mid-April, and final exams were two weeks alway and graduation was the first weekend in May. She is in the top of her class but she still needs to pass these 4 classes to graduate. As I watched found out two classes required final exams and one professor said that if they got an A on every exam during the semester they would not have to take the final exam. Abigail was one of those students.
I really enjoyed the topic of the second class. Along with the lecture the professor showed gruesome pictures of crime scenes. I loved watching some of the students turn green but Abigail did not. She just kept taking notes.
I noticed that Abigail had made friends in each of her classes. She was willing to help them study for exams or help with homework. Another thing I noticed is that they all had similar things in common. In one class I watched this interaction:
Abigail: Hi Stacy. How was your weekend?
Stacy: It was nice. Oh, look at what I found at Walmart.
Stacy pulls out an Eeyore pin with a blue poof ball on top.
Abigail: That's so cute. I got the stitch one on Thursday.
Abigail pulls out a pen with a purple poof ball on top.
Stacy: I hope I can find a Pooh one later.
Abigail's smile gets big.
Abigail: Well, i figured that.
Abigail pulls out two other pens, one Pooh and the other Tigger.
Stacy lets out girly sequel and hugs her friend.
I watch all this with amusement.
What has caused full-grown ladies to like silly things like that now of days?
Just as I had that thought, another friend of Abigail's walks in and sits down. He is wearing a yellow hat with long yellow ears with black tips (maybe a cartoon rabbit). I find out his name is Tyler.
I sigh. Well maybe both sexes are going backwards in age.
Abigail and friends are talking until the professor walks over to the door, closes it, then starts writing on the board. She might act childish sometimes but she knows when to get serious, i thought.
After class, I follow the three of you to the cafeteria. The three of you get your lunch and head outside to enjoy the beautiful day. Alastor takes a seat at the empty spot at the picnic table to listen in.
Abigail's POV
"I am so glad that our end of year project in Professor Smith's class is our final exam." I say with a sigh of relief.
"Me too," Tyler agrees with relief also.
"Just hope I get a B on to get my grade up. How close are you two to finishing your project?" Stacy asks.
I should be finished with mine by Saturday, I hope. I need to study for two exams." Abigail responded.
"You know me. I will be up the night it's due finishing it up." Tyler says as he takes a sip of his drink. "How about you Stacy?"
"By next Wednesday." Stacy answers.
"Are either of you going to the party for Solve the Case club Professor Smith is having at his house?" Abigail asks curiously.
"No," came from Stacy and a "Hell yeah!" from Tyler.
Tyler looked at Stacy with a surprised expression.
"Why? It's supposed to be one of the best parties of the year!" Tyler says with enthusiasm.
"I am not interested, plus I need to study and work my project," Stacy replied quietly.
I look at Stacy with concern. About mid March Stacy started to act nervous in Professor Smith's class. I have tried to get her to open up and tell me what's wrong but she always says it's nothing. Sometimes she has a hard time taking notes. I don't know what's going on. I have been giving her copies of mine so she can study. She even stopped going to the club meetings.
"Well, I still not sure I am going either. I am not a party girl and I have heard it can get a little wild." I say as i take a bite of my chicken sandwich.
"It will be your twos lost but to each their own," Tyler says with a shrug.
We talk about other things until ten minutes about class starts, and then we start heading towards the classroom.
I get an idea.
"Stacy. How about you and I get together on Thursday? We can watch a movie and drink a few wine coolers since we both don't want to go to the party."
"That sounds like a wonderful idea," Stacy replied happily
Alastor's POV
I follow the group to the next class.
As I enter the room behind them I see the professor sitting at the desk in front of the class. It looks like he is in his high 40s. All of a sudden a rush of emotions hit me as I look at him. I can sense greed and pride, and the strongest one of all is lust.
I have noticed that I can tell a living person sins better than a sinner demons. I can get a small sense of what a sinner demons sins are but the atmosphere is just so full that it is sometimes it's hard to pin point which demon it is coming from. This sense helps me chose my victims when I go hunting.
Since the living world everything is not saturated with sin, it's easier to read people.
I am curious about what he has done to have such a strong aura around him. I look at the clock and there is five minutes before the class starts. With the power of voodoo, I can read minds. The only catch is I can only see glimpses of memories. Also, the person must be relaxed. The professor seems to be watching students coming to and not in deep thought so I decided to see what I get.
I close my eyes and start to reach out to the professor's mind. First, I get pride. He is self-centered, thinks he's God's gift to women, and belittles people to make himself look better.
Second greed. He forced and brided people to give him tenure. He has borrowed money from people and bullied them to give up on asking for their money back.
Third lust. He has cheated on his wife with several women on business trips. The worst is that he has brided, forced, and blackmailed so many female students into sexual activities. It's usually the students who are struggling with his class. There are a few that he approached that had a bad grade on one test. A couple he has caught cheating and used that as blackmail.
My blood begins to boil and my antlers grow out a little bit by this discovery. How dare he use his position to abuse these women!
I settle down because there is nothing I can do now. Maybe, I can figure out something to do about it later. As far as I can tell Abigail's grades are terrific so he has not approached her. I wonder if I can tell her about this and if she would believe me. She could think it's a trick that i came up with just to watch her action for entertainment.
As the professor starts his class, I watch him with loathing and try to think what I can do.
