In the dim-lit dining room, Lennox sat across from me, his captive. A plate of sumptuous food lay untouched before me, my gaze fixed upon him with an enigmatic flicker in my eyes.
"You need to eat, Angelica," Lennox uttered, his voice devoid of emotion.
My lips parted slightly, a faint chuckle escaping them. "It's been a while since I heard you say my name," I murmured, reaching for my fork. My graceful fingers lifted a morsel to my mouth, my every move exuding an ethereal elegance that belied the horrors I had endured.
Lennox's lips twitched, a hint of amusement flickering across his face as he watched me. "What do you mean?" he inquired, his tone laced with languid curiosity.
"You usually call me 'Angel'," I replied, my voice soft as a summer breeze. A delicate smile played upon my lips, softening the hard lines of Lennox's visage.
"Tell me, how exactly did you and your fiancee, Colton, meet?" Lennox asked, his voice a smooth whisper.
My eyes sparkled with a distant memory as I recounted the tale of our chance encounter. I spoke of stolen glances amidst crowded streets, of stolen kisses beneath starlit skies, my voice painting a vibrant tapestry of love and longing. Lennox listened intently, his gaze fixed upon me.
As I spoke, my eyes grew heavy with unshed tears, my voice trembling slightly."You love him, don't you?" Lennox whispered, his breath catching in his throat.
My gaze met his, my eyes filled with a bittersweet longing. "I did," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. "But after all that I've been through here, I'm not sure what I feel anymore."Lennox rose from his seat, the floorboards groaning beneath his weight. He moved with a predatory grace, stopping before me. His fingers, calloused and strong, gently lifted my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze.
"You're adorable, my angel," he murmured his voice a velvet caress that sent shivers down my spine. He squeezed my cheeks lightly, a gesture that was simultaneously tender and terrifying.
I swallowed the food, my eyes wide and unblinking. "Len," I breathed, the nickname tripping off my tongue like a soft melody. A giggle, hesitant and sweet, escaped my lips, a sound that brought a flicker of surprise to Lennox's face.
His eyes, usually cold and calculating, widened slightly. "Len?" he echoed, a strange, unfamiliar emotion flickering across his features. It was a vulnerability I had never seen before."Len," I repeated gently.
