The day of reckoning had arrived.

Daena had found no rest that evening.

She stared out from her balcony upon the streets of King's Landing. There was a cool evening breeze that blew through her loose silver-gold curls.

She turned from the railing and returned into her chambers.

She sat by the burning hearth and braided her hair into a loose plait. Then as a draft drifted into the room she pulled a black robe across her shoulders.

Suddenly Jamie had burst into her chambers as it neared the hour of the wolf, he rambled but she understood his words: his father and the Lannister host were at the city gates and she needed to get to the throne room.

They left her chambers with haste and when they arrived, Lord Varys, Grand Maester Pycelle, and Lord Rossart all stood around the Iron Throne, her father sitting upon it.

The bickering between the Small Councilors was apparent.

"Your grace, you have known Lord Tywin for many years, when has he ever chosen the losing side?" the Master of Whispers nearly pleaded to the King.

"Father," Daena spoke, drawing the men's attention.

"Princess," the Grand Maester bowed, "The Lannister's have come to defend the city from the rebels."

Aerys looked at his daughter, "Tywin has always been loyal," he sneered.

Daena looked at her father wearily, "If Lord Tywin is at the gates he means to sack the city, not save it."

The Mad King huffed angrily, flicking his wrist, "Nonsense."

"Your grace," Pycelle stuttered, "The Lannisters have always been true friends to the crown. They can be trusted."

Lord Rossart nodded at the Grand Maester's words, "I agree, your grace."

Aerys nodded, "Grand Maester, notify the city watch to open the gates for Lord Tywin."

"He's going to massacre the city!" Daena shouted, her temper beginning to show.

Aerys rose from the throne, pale and thin yet monstrous, "I am King!" He screeched, "Not you, girl. Me! I am King!"
