Daena remained in her old rooms and was locked away again, though at least with some comfort.

Cersei had informed her that she was to wed Robert. Daena, while happy for her friend's excitement, also rued for her.

While Cersei was a choice with obvious financial benefits, she had thought her name might have been put forward to add legitimacy to Robert's rule.

But alas, what did she care? She would have murdered Robert in his sleep if she'd ever had the misfortune of being wed to him.

Cersei was naive enough though. She believed that Robert could live up to the expectations she had created for Rhaegar in her mind.

The Stag Lord was no comparison for her brother.

And furthermore, Lyanna Stark was dead.

They had revived a raven from Lord Stark a fortnight ago, though few details were given and now Eddard rode North to return his sister's body to Winterfell.

Robert would never love Cersei and she'd be broken hearted because of it.

In preparation for her wedding, Cersei would invite Daena everyday to her chambers as she was fitted for her gown and the event was planned.

Daena did not understand why she was permitted to leave her rooms but didn't argue with being allowed a small semblance of freedom.

Cersei's wedding dress was fashioned in the style of her mother's and was cloth of gold in the style of her mother, the late Joanna Lannister.

The bodice pushed up Cersei's bosom and the dress itself was sleeveless to accommodate her maiden cloak with two straps on her shoulders and long flowing skirts. Red thread was used to embroider the edges and emblazon the gown with symbols of Lannister heraldry.

The wedding was quickly approaching and Cersei was being swamped by planning details.

But she still made time for Daena and visited her often.

She rarely received visitors other than Cersei and occasionally Jamie.

But some days she preferred to be alone.

Her handmaiden was some Estermont girl, a cousin to Robert and therefore a spy. Daena did not trust her but the girl was of some use on occasion in bringing news from the world beyond her door.
