'Growing up was an odd experience for me. From as early as I can remember, I could see monsters everywhere I looked. That made me terrified of the outside world so I often stayed in the house where I couldn't see the monsters of the outside world. Even though both of my parents didn't believe me when I told them about what I could see, I often saw my father looking over to where the monsters were. He could see them too, no matter how much he denied it. When I found out the reality behind the monsters I had been seeing, I thought I was special and it felt great. Of course, that didn't really last long after I was given a place to be around people like me, Tokyo Jujutsu High. I love my classmates and they are truly my greatest friends and that will remain the same for as long as I'm alive. That doesn't make being their classmate any less humiliating for me though.' Y/N thought in his unconscious mind.
'To be honest, it's infuriating being in that class. It's got two sixteen year old special grade sorcerers, making up half of the current registered special grades, and Shoko, someone who has the extraordinarily rare ability to apply reverse cursed technique to others. They're all amazing. And then there's me, I have no technique and the only area I beat them in is raw physical ability. Since the first year I've longed to be on equal terms with them, maybe even surpass them. Though, at this point as I lay slumped on a wall near death, that dream is an impossible reality. If that guy managed to kill or at least knock out Gojo, I doubt Suguru soul cause much trouble. I have no room to talk about that though. I went down too easily.' Y/N finished, opening his eyes to find himself in a large open arena. There were elevated stands that seemed to be full of people and he was overcome by a feeling he had become all too familiar with since joining Jujutsu High, Envy. Y/N understood that this was either the afterlife or his innate domain, he went with the latter as he doubted the afterlife was an arena like this.
"You know, I expected you to have seen this place sooner. The fact that you've only just seen this place is rather disappointing." Y/N heard an incredibly familiar voice and as he turned around he realised who had spoken. He looked right into his own eyes only to realise that this version of him looked slightly different, his eyes were now a shade of green instead of their natural brown.
"What's going on?" Y/N asked cautiously, taking a step back from the other version of him.
"No need to worry. You already figured out where you are, this is your innate domain." The doppelgänger paused "I can tell you're confused by me so I'll explain who I am. As you can already see, I'm you. That's not entirely correct though, I'm a manifestation of your true potential and now I've seen you in person I can safely say, you have a long way to go before we're anywhere near equal." He frowned.
"So, why am I here now? Couldn't you have pulled me in here any time I've been asleep?"
"I could've but to be honest, I wanted you to figure out what you were capable of on your own."
"Then what's the point of me being here now."
"You started to really piss me off with how weak you are. I'm forcibly activating your technique once you wake up. I can't heal you or anything like that and I'm pretty sure you've already failed in your mission but you won't be weak anymore." The doppelgänger sat down as a the scenery changed to a large throne room. The alternate Y/N sat back in the throne before continuing "Now, what I'm gonna do now is fully explain the basics of your techniques. I'll explain more as you get stronger, once you're strong enough though, I'll disappear completely."
"Alright, you got pissed off at me being weak so you're forcing me to power up, is that what you're saying?"
"Yeah. Now shut up and listen. You're jealous of your classmates, aren't you?... don't answer that, I know you are. Your technique has been influenced by that and evolved into something that could potentially make you equal to Satoru Gojo. Envy's Embrace will allow you to impose binding vows onto yourself temporarily for slight costs to yourself. I'll give you an example just to help you understand properly. If you want to increase your speed then you could impose a condition on yourself that sacrifices a bit of your strength. You can cancel these conditions whenever you want to, that's just the beginning though. The best part of Envy's Embrace is that you can impose conditions on other people as well, that does mean that you slightly buff them in a certain attribute but the technique is a lot more forgiving when you place restrictions on others."
