After a few weeks, the days started getting cooler, winter was coming.. It irked Akari to have to be picked up close to school. Her favorite café was close to where her people dropped her off. On certain days, since she occasionally went out with her friends, she didn't want to be picked up. She started spending more time with the fearless leader. While on night patrol, Leonardo brought her along and showed her the breathtaking views of the city. Leo was visiting her house by himself one evening as they were beginning to spend more time with one another. Leo was showing her some of the katana techniques he had picked up. Although Akari used to enjoy using her tessen, she hasn't in a long time. She looked at the beautiful black and white tessen when Leonardo got an idea, “Perhaps my father could help. You will finally get to meet him!”

“You should ask your family if it’s okay. Your brother still doesn’t even trust me..”

“He will come around, you'll see. Perhaps Raph would be more trusting in a way,” said Leo “I will ask and let you know.”

It was about time they brought her to the sewers. The turtles led her to their home and introduced her to their father. Even after all this time, Raphael remained privately convinced that it was a bad idea. Master Splinter was, of course, very welcoming, "Ah, so you are the young lady who my sons haven't stopped talking about." Leo and Raph shook their heads, and Mikey and Donnie laughed. "Nice things?" she asked. "Good things," Splinter assured her.

Splinter agreed to teach her a few things. While they waited Raphael approached Leo who was playing a game at the arcade. “Casey told me you’ve been hanging out with Akari a lot lately.”

“Yeah, what of it?” he said as he tried focusing on his game trying to beat Mikey’s high score.

“Never mind” raph stomped away.

“Someone is jelly,” Mikey whispered to Donnie.

Raph smacked his head as he passed him, “I heard that.”

After several hours, the girl started to feel fatigued. She stretched her arms after training with Master Splinter and yawned. "What time is it?" she asked. "It is 12:43 past midnight," April responded. "Oh no. She hurriedly gathered her belongings and said, "I have to go home and clean up." April got up and accompanied her. Casey wanted to go, of course, and he brought everyone along. When Akari was ready to go, she made sure to say goodbye to Splinter and thank him for the lessons.

When the group arrived, she noticed that the kitchen lights were turned on. Her folks hadn't arrived home yet. “That's weird. The kitchen light is on, but nobody's home,” she whispered to them. She opened the window to her bedroom and went inside. "Just in case, I'll go first." Leonardo took a step forward, but Akari interrupted him, asking, “What if it's my parents playing a trick on me? They'll see you.” As she moved toward the kitchen, she saw the figure stand up, “Finally, I was wondering if you would come at all.” She turned around and removed her hood, revealing a stunning young woman wielding a Katana. The turtles moved quickly in front of Akari. “What are you doing here, Karai?” Leonardo asked.

“Put down your weapons. I am not here to fight you but to help. She was seen with you, which means someone will talk.” Karai spoke softly. “I already warned her parents. They are already preparing to leave.”

“Leave? Wait, why are you helping me?” Akari asked.

“Your mother is kind to me, so I am here to return that kindness. I wish we would’ve met sooner,” Karai smiled at her.

“I knew she wasn’t working with you guys,” Mikey said as stretched.

“Guess not.” Raphael turned to Akari, “Sorry I didn’t believe you.”

“It’s okay. You were just trying to protect your family.”

"Your parents will be here soon," Karai said as she peered out the window. I warned them this morning so they could leave tonight. You will have to return to Japan for a while; the shredder has no business there anymore because your friends are distracting him here."

“So does that mean you’ll help us defeat him?” asked Leo. "I'm here to help her, not you. To make it look real, I'll pretend to fight you while we're sent for her family. You now need to pack and say your goodbyes. It was a pleasure to meet you, Akari. I wish you well.” Karai exited the same way they did: via the fire escape.

Assisted by her friends, Akari took her time packing. She only took what was truly valuable and important to her. Along with her cat's belongings, as she had no intention of leaving her behind. Her parents didn't take long to knock. She went to open the door while her friends were hiding in her room, ready to leave. Her mother opened the door and gave her a strong hug, "Karai told me she was here. Have you finished packing?" she asked.

“Yes” she replied, “I’m ready to go. Also, where is dad?”

“He is waiting at the airport with our stuff,” her mother said as she picked up her cat and a bag.

“Wait I need to say goodbye. Just five minutes.” Akari turned and walked to her room.

Her mother caught a glimpse of the mutants in her room. The individuals they've witnessed on camera breaking into the buildings and attacking the foot clan. Akari gave each of her friends a hug. She said to April, "Keep me updated in case anything happens.".

As Akari was about to pick up her backpack and luggage, Raphael stopped her and said, "Wait a minute, I'm sorry for how I've treated you lately. I simply -" "Don't worry, I've forgiven you a long time ago. I hope to see you again soon and spend more time together." She gave him a hug. Raphael gave a quick hug in return. "Be careful and stay safe."Akari saw them trying to keep up on the rooftops while she was in the car. Her mother shook her head as Akari waved goodbye to them for the last time. Her mother said, "To think those were the friends you were hanging out with." The girl couldn’t hold it anymore when they disappeared from sight, she cried. When they got to the airport, her father had already made a reservation for a private flight to Japan.
