The family was safe in Japan for the time being, but they decided to relocate to Korea out of fear of their new enemy. It was all moving around again, and Akari would never be able to have such friends again. Those were the longest years of her life; it felt like a decade, even though it was only four years. April and Akari were no longer able to communicate due to safety concerns. Until one day, when Donatello contacted her and informed her of Shredder's defeat. This is very good news. Her hair quickly became longer, and she had no plans to cut it. She had a lot of things planned. The time soon arrived to return to New York City.

Despite the rain, the city was calm tonight. She wanted to sit by the balcony because of the smell of rain and the chill in the air. She went to fetch herself a cup of coffee and pulled on a warm sweatshirt. The girl took advantage of the gloomy weather by enjoying her coffee on the little table she had purchased some time ago. Akari has found an affordable yet suitable apartment in this city. It was difficult to find the perfect one, but that's New York for you. At night, not many people passed by the apartment because it was well hidden. It is an ideal spot for her friends to stop by and come for a visit.

When it began to rain more heavily, the cold finally got to her. She shut the window, took off her sweater, set it on the couch, and pulled her long black hair into a bun until her laptop screen switched on and displayed a notification. When she checked it out, she saw that it was April O'Neil, her best friend. Since her departure, she had been the only person Akari could see. Akari gave her a tour of the cities as she was so delighted to see her when she arrived in Japan. She clicked on the email.

April: Hey Akari! I got your email earlier saying you were in the city. Want to hang out tomorrow at the same Café? Also, I need your help with something.

Akari: Hello April, Sure thing I will be there.

The next morning, the girl felt weird about going. Still, she felt like it was dangerous to go see her, but the shredder is gone now. She should be feeling safe, but that fear won't go away for a while. She shook her head. Akari put on one of her many outfits that she liked so much, especially with this cold weather. It was a bit chilly so she had to wear a jacket and a scarf. She wore a black blouse and leather jeans along with her black boots. When she arrived at the Café, she saw April sitting by the window. The same table by the window has a nice view of the street. April stood up and hugged her best friend. They both talked about many things.

"You should visit me at our new apartment. We just moved in, and Casey is still unpacking."

"Just make sure to send me the address. I will be happy to lend a hand. Oh, umm- you said you needed my help for something?"

"Yes. It's about .. the brothers..” She looked around and then whispered, “..It's better if we talk about this at your place.."

"Alright then.."

Both of them ordered coffee to go. They walked to Akari's new apartment. Once inside, they both got comfy, sitting down on the sofa facing one of her big windows, which gave a beautiful view of the gloomy weather. Akari wondered what had happened to the turtles since April and looked a bit worried,
, "Master Splinter sent Leo to Central America for training. The others are keeping themselves busy, but it's somewhat depressing seeing them like that. Splinter is worried about Leo since he is not writing back anymore.."

The girl gave her a confused look. "He did? When?.. Why would he do that?"

"Almost a year ago. It was for him to become a better leader and become stronger. Something is keeping him there. I have business around there soon, so I might be able to find him."

"What kind of business?"

"Ancient artifacts."

"Sounds interesting..um. If you find him, convince him to come back."

April smiled and nodded, “maybe when he hears about you, he will come back.” Leo told April about what he felt about her and still kept that secret. April had a feeling that he would come back once he heard about her. This will convince him to come back.

“And ruin the surprise when he returns? I rather see the surprised look on his face when he sees me,” Akari smiled at her. April agreed, “You are right, but if it doesn't convince him, I will tell him.”

That night, the girl couldn't sleep. She spent a long time wondering why Splinter would do that, sending Leonardo away. Leo was so kind to her, and he was a good leader, but he did struggle a lot just trying to get everyone to work as a team. He must’ve finally figured it out due to his defeating the shredder with the team. She hugged her pillow, thinking about her friends. Her cat even snuggled next to her to help her sleep. Still, the girl wondered. How are the rest doing? Are the boys okay? What are they doing to keep themselves entertained? Well, she will have to wait til tomorrow. She didn't know what to wear, perhaps something she used to wear a lot back then. She shook the thoughts away and tried sleeping. She can only imagine how they will look like now. She wanted it to be a surprise since April wished to see her reaction. The girl yawned and finally fell asleep. Excitement can be quite exhausting.
