The night after the music was discovered. Y/n had excused herself from the usual place where she sleeps and found herself somewhere else. Not the village nor the secret cave but on a mountain so tall that its peak was bald.
There she stood where she held her flute that was apparently hidden by Senku after her little performance back then. Y/n sat in the middle of the peak thinking of random things about her life.
Her first impressions of Senku. The girl was a thousand percent sure that the man who she now could hold so warmly in bed was someone who'd never make a move about his feelings despite knowing he had one. First of all she even thought he'd never fall in love except for deeply loving science. Thousands percent that she saw him as a guy who would never fall in love in the first place.
It wouldn't be surprising if he was to make a physical form for science just so he could marry it.
(Not a shocking thought at all)
The girl held the flute to her lips and stared up to the sky.
Could it be that he's using me?
She blew onto the instrument and cast the spell of making the ears hear not one singular tune but a symphony. An orchestral performance for the stars.
Am I prepared to be a tool once again?
The song from the disk. One Small Step. A song that kept resonating in her mind as it had been the whole remaining time of the day that it was discovered.
One small step.
A woman who puts no trust will never gain a love that bursts with sparks. One small step. Trust. Why is it so hard to fully trust others?
The wind that chilled her body kept playing with her hair, the sound of her playing called the breeze to perform along with her. Her locks were dramatically blown away from her face just so her performance wouldn't be interrupted.
And besides...
It seemed as if the gods of wind were interested, hoping to watch a beautiful performance until the end note sang throughout the open field.
As the tune died down, her hands slowly fell back down to her sides. Tired. She sat down just gazing at the sky in awe.
What even is romantic love?
"I miss Hoku, my big Saint Bernard boy" the girl chuckled, a shape in the stars reminding her of a certain pet that she always cherished in her heart. A name she'd never forget.
"Hoku, who's that?" The girl turned her head to the new presence that had arrived. Easily climbing a mountain with minimum sound being made. Kohaku.
"My pet, he is a dog just like Chalk, but unlike Suika's pet, my boy was as big as me" Y/n smiled holding a hand out to the girl who didn't need help getting up to the final destination of the bald mountain but she took her hand and the unexpected force that pulled her up made her breath stuck inside het throat for a moment.
"Woah, I didn't know you were a tad bit strong!" Kohaku beamed with the stars gleaming in her eyes. But Y/n chuckled and shook her head.
"I'm not that strong" she denied and sat down making Kohaku join her on the ground.
"So your pet, the dog is as big as you? How is that even possible?" Kohaku was curious, could this be an animal who didn't get to live throughout the many years or was it simply not a dog but a big animal like a lion but Y/n sees it as a dog?
"We had a lot of dogs that grew big, if I remember correctly, Hoku was even bigger than you" Y/n elaborated by putting her hand out in the open measuring a height she knew was the right height of her beloved pet.
