CHAPTER 7: ESCAPE

Avi starts running around the house, covering his ears and gets behind Emma.

"E... E.. Emma... THOSE MONSTERS!!"

"Yeah, I'm aware!"

she grits her teeth as she turns to the window and watches them gather up ahead. "Just how many were there?" She says, feeling herself getting panicked.

She could hear the door shaking and banging loudly against the front door.

"These sons of bitches are trying to get in..."

She looks down at Avi who was crying his eyes out and screaming. She looks at him and speaks.

"Calm down, kid!"

But Avi wasn't ready to listen, he kept crying and bawling his eyes out.

The monsters outside slam against the door, their hands slamming and pounding against it, but the wood and nails hold firm. Emma could hear them grunting as they hit the door, growling and groaning as they tried to beat back the front door.

Avi starts running around and crying a river.

"I SAID CALM DOWN, KID!" Emma yells out at him and yanks his arm to get his attention, hoping this would get him to lower his voice. She doesn't want any more attention drawn towards this house.

Avi sniffles and looks up at Emma.

"The monsters... t..t... they're gonna get in..."

"I KNOW!"

Emma practically yells at Avi as she looks back at the door, which was still being pounded on by the undead freaks outside.

"There are so many. There's so many, emma! Emma, There's so many! What do we do?"

The kid then starts crying and shaking Emma's leg.

"I don't know, I don't know." She can already feel her nerves on edge, the feeling of impending doom slowly creeping up on her from the back of her mind. She was about 5 seconds away from having a full mental breakdown. "Just shut your mouth, right now! Just-- just shut up!"

Avi squats down and doubles and cries loudly.

"no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!! I don't wanna die!!! I'm just 7!!! I don't want to die!!!"

At the moment Emma was just thinking about shoving him in a cabinet and hoping for the best. Her nerves are shot and she just wants this kid to shut up but she doesn't have the energy to argue with his crying. She really wishes there was a mute button on this kid right now because those monsters just keep on coming the longer he cries.

But then suddenly, because of the monsters pounding the door so hard, the door almost snap opens. It was about to break. With each pound, the door opened so much that Emma could see the monstrous faces of the rotten creatures. She steps a bit back with Avi, looking around for some way to make it out alive

But then suddenly, with one Final thrust to the door, the monsters start rushing in the house to devour Emma and the kid. Avi screams in fear and emma pulls out her pistol and shoots down a couple while moving back.

Then suddenly one of the monsters jumps in and tries to reach out for Avi. Emma sees this and adrenaline rushes in her body. In that moment, She quickly aims her pistol at the monster and pulls the trigger. But just when she was busy doing this, another monster jumps in at Emma, trying to sink its teeth in her arm. She pulls her hand away from the walker - and her muscle memory from her days in the military kicks in. She uses her other hand to pin the monster on the wall by its neck and sets her arm free. She pulls out the knife out of her pocket and stabs it in the monster's base of the skull. She then pushes the dead monster towards the horde, successfully slowing the marching dead down. She quickly pulls Avi behind her.
