"you can sleep here" Jay push a door open, revealing a neat room. A big filled book shelf catch Evelyn attention before her eyes wanders around the room and find a framed photograph of familiar faces but also a woman and a kid. Her eyes squint before she find a familiar name on a certificate framed on the wall.
3rd PLACE : SIM JAEYUN JAKE [ CGPA : 3.87 ]
Evelyn turns to Jay in surprise, "why? get unpack, i'll be in a room upstairs" Jay says nonchalantly but Evelyn could sense a little softness in his voice. Jay is about to walk away but Evelyn grab his arm, stopping him, "no.. you should sleep here" she said but Jay just let out a soft sigh before shaking his head and turn around. "i won't be able to hold it in then" Jay utter unfamiliar words making the older confused as she watch the guy walk to the house stairs.o
Evelyn slowly push the door closed before she walk around the room once again, this time observing the detail in a less distance. Evelyn trail her slender finger on the 4R sized wooden frame before picking it up, "they had a great time.." She mumble and smile softly as her eyes trails to each of their smiling faces and stop at Jay's, "happiness really does suits you" she continue. She can't deny how those smile looks so genuine and untroubled.
Her eyes then divert to the picture of a woman and a kid and glance at the name on the wall again before reaching for her phone and search for 'Sim Jaeyun Jake'. Her eyes widen slightly at a few articles before clicking onto one of them. Evelyn read few articles about the said guy achievement, followed by Sunghoon and Jungwon names, most of it for comparison, making her face expression changes. By comparing his result from time to time and his room, she would clearly tell that the guy was a high achiever and some words in the article would unintentionally hurt.
"However, like usual, Sim Jake couldn't win over Park Sunghoon who has been consistently taking the first spot in school and being acknowledge being the smartest student in the school and also South Korea" Evelyn read and sigh softly as she roam around Jake's room, opening some of his books as she found the look interesting before her eyes land on a carved wooden box which is place almost at the highest level of the book shelf.
Evelyn slowly pull the chair out and use it to step onto the study desk, tip toeing to reach the box, carefully to not let it fall as she gets down. She carefully listen if Jay footsteps is approaching the room but only hear it fading in distance so she quickly open the box which was welcome by numerous printed pictures and polaroid. Their pictures, the boys.
Evelyn slowly lift a few to see, her finger softly move on the film paper, almost like admiring all of them. Their friendship, Their memories. Short lend memories. They look so... happy. The genuine smile and happiness pasted on their face despite each of them having their struggles buried deep in.

[ 10PM KST ]
a faint knock are heard on the door of Jay's room making him sigh softly, stirred from his nap. "what?" Jay asked with a slight raspy voice from his sleep, not bothering to open the door yet Evelyn push it open slowly and just slightly to peek on the inside, "i'm.. a little hungry" Evelyn mumbles softly, a little guilty to disturb the guy considering how he hardly can fall asleep at night.
"so?" Jay asked as he glance at the girl, "can i.. go through the kitchen?" Evelyn asked carefully which Jay answered simply with a nod before she left him alone again, walking downstairs and rummage through the kitchen to see if there's anything to cook and eat.
Jay let out a sigh right after the girl left, slowly sit up on the bed before his eyes land on a picture of them. 7 boys. framed and placed on the wall, amongst tons of other pics of Jake and his mother. He suddenly remembered Sunghoon's word from few months ago, right after a few days Jungwon passed away, when sunghoon and him decide to sleep at Jake's house.
"I regretted on hating Jungwon, we're friends now but I once hated him when all he did was nothing but being nice. I regretted hating him after realising how pure his intentions and heart is.. I hope you never go through that" — Sunghoon
Jay closed his eyes briefly and sigh softly before he reach for his phone, finally changing his phone region to South Korea and make him able to access to his korean number which he has avoided to use as he doesn't want his parents to know his current location. Jay ordered food under Evelyn's name before paying and pull the cover over his head, trying to get some rest as he stayed awake through the flights here.
