Chapter nine

Larry Williams

Still in the past...

"I think I will start opening the presents, I can't possibly wait till you all leave before I see my gifts". I said as I looked at a couple of boxes and wrappings in front of me. My friends and family had presented me with a lot of gifts on my birthday.

I organized a small gathering in my living room to celebrate my 55th birthday. Two of my old friends were sitted on the long sofa beside mine, and my wife and my son, Tony were sitting on the other sofa.

The center table was filled with gifts, which amazed me.

"Go ahead Larry, I mean they're yours". One of my friends said as we all laughed heartily.

"Okayy... Which do I open first?". I asked rhetorically as I moved my hands around the table.

I picked one of the boxes and saw a card glued to it, with the words 'Happy birthday dad! From Rose❤️'

"Rose is not even here and she sent a gift?" I said as my eyes filled with liquid. I tore the gift wrap and opened the box. My face lit up instantly as I saw the gift, and my lips turned to a broad grin.

"It's a customized mug and T-shirt!" I announced to everyone. 'Happy birthday to the world's best dad' was written on the mug and T-shirt.

I felt so happy that my daughter sent me a gift, even if she is in another town with her husband.

I was about to open the next gift when we heard a loud bang on our door.

We all looked at each other with surprised, all wonder who it could be. "Honey please get the door". I told Rebecca, my wife. She stood up and walked towards the door.

When she opened the door, a woman and her crying daughter came in.

"Who are you people, and what do you want from us?". I asked the woman.

"That's the boy who did this to you right?" The woman asked the girl and pointed to Tony. The girl shivered and nodded.

"Amy, what are you talking about?" Tony said to the girl.

"What is happening here? Tony do you know them?". I asked my son.

"Of course he knows her. You stupid son got my daughter pregnant!". The woman said to me.

"Amy you're pregnant?? How??" Tony asked Amy with surprise written all over his face.

She sobbed so much, then she wiped her eyes and started talking.

"It was that night I invited you over to celebrate our admission. I was dared to take a selfie of myself lying on your chest, so I drugged you. It made you loose control and then we got intimate!" She confessed to Tony and continued crying.

"I had to go see your sick dad in the hospital, that was why I left the house that evening, and you brought a boy? Are you aware you can't go to school anymore?". The woman said with so much pain in her eyes.

"You know what? Do not come back to my house. Don't think of calling me your mother. From today, you are no longer my daughter!!". She said as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"Mom please!!" She screamed and fell on the floor crying. Her mother left and banged the door.

I stood speechless and embarrassed. Tony has ruined my birthday. My friends were back at the table murmuring. My reputation is now ruined. My blood was boiling!

"Honey please calm down, please!" Rebecca said to me as she touched my shoulders. You just have to forgive Tony. It wasn't exactly his fault.

"Forgive??" I shouted in anger as I glared at Tony. I turned back to my wife. "He went to a girl's house and got her pregnant, and you're asking my to forgive??".

"I know he wasn't supposed to go to a girl's house without our permission, but what has happened has happened, we can't do anything". She said with so much sympathy.

I turned and glared at Tony. "TONY!!!" I screamed as I walked towards him. He walked back, because he knew what I could do when I was angry. I exhaled slowly, letting my anger out. "I'm not going to beat you up this time, you're eighteen. But I'm going to punish you severely".

I glanced at the girl sobbing on the floor, and continued. "Since she can't go to school, neither can you. You just wasted your admission. You both are going to stay together, how you will feed is your business. And don't make the mistake of calling me. From today, we no longer know each other"

"Larry please, you don't have to do this, he's your son! I beg you!". Rebecca pleased.

"I've already made my decision. I am going to find a small house for the both of them, I think that's enough kindness". I said.

"Dad, I'm sorry, I can explain! She...." I slapped him before he finished his sentence.

"DON'T CALL ME DAD!!!" I screamed at him. " My reputation is ruined, thanks to you!"

"Mom, can you talk to dad?". Tony said to Rebecca as they held hands and looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Your father doesn't change his mind when he makes decisions, I'm so sorry, but you just have to leave". Rebecca said, holding back tears.

That was when my son left my house, with the girl. I never wanted to see a son that has ruined my reputation in front of my friends.
