"Give me a drizzle of sugar snot, chocolate cob, unicorn hair, and marshmallows-big ones. All in a super-sized cup."
My fingers moved in beastman speed over the notepad and flickered up every 3 seconds to look at the pink-haired, pointy-eared elf in front of the counter. She giggled when she saw how I was glancing at her and nudged her friend, who was staring awfully hard at the print on my t-shirt.
Or possibly, my boobs.
"Would you stop that for 2 seconds?" She whispered loudly, not nearly as subtle as she hoped. Her friend, with light purple skin and the frilliest crop top I've ever seen, finally looked up into my eyes. That had probably turned a threatening yellow.
"Right, sorry 'bout that." She nervously scratched at her hair and averted her gaze towards her friend, who gave her a disapproving look. Slut.
I rolled my eyes and turned away to make their order. I glanced at the extreme side of the cafe to catch Fern mixing up the strongest drinks I've ever seen in the entire world for a CHILD?
"give me a few sec-"
My feet had already found their way to the bar, the lights glinting off Fern's fur coat, making it appear bronzed.
Her slitted green eyes blinked at me, a deadpan look on her face. The little boy sat on the bar stool, swinging his feet. He smiled at me, revealing a diastema that looked identical to mine.
"Hello, beast man," the voice brought my soul back to my body. There's no way that voice came from this little boy.
"Would you like a shot as well? It's on me." The voice slipped out of his mouth and I took a step back to really look at him. I looked at his curly hair, his chubby hands..and the creases on his forehead.
"Oh," was all I said before I zoomed out of his view, Fern's deadpan look morphing into a grin.
Another shapeshifter. The third we've had this week. It was pretty rare to see them out of their side of the city and in an area that was all bustle and rustle. I looked back at the child and a man's face smiled back, still swinging his feet. I remember now. They didn't stay on one side voluntarily, we isolated them.
Fern however didn't mind being around the stranger species, being a terrifying python shifter herself. She conversed with the shapeshifter in a low tone, as people steered clear of the bar, after witnessing the face shift.
"I didn't know you let shapers here." The pink haired girl asked me, her tone almost disgusted as she stared at the bar. Her friend had left her side and was now at a table with enamoured females surrounding her.
"We don't have rules against what species enter our cafe."
If not, Your fae friend wouldn't be sitting over at that table.
She looked back at me, and my hands that were fastening the plastic cover of her cup and clapped her hands, her eyes glittering. "Remember to put that in the recycle bin out the corner of the shop, it's the green one." I called after her as she walked to her booth. I patted my hands on the towel hanging on hanging rack by the side and turned to look at my potted tea plants hanging on the wall.
"Ahem." Someone coughed and I turned around to look at the new customer. He smiled at me, his sharp teeth looking pristine white and a gold canine blinking.
"The usual, you know." He leaned his elbow on the counter and smirked at me. I raised an eyebrow at his elbow on my counter.
"Am I supposed to know that ?"
"Since I've been here almost everyday for the past two weeks. Yes."
"So have lots of other people. Remind me what your usual is again?" His smile died at the blank look on my face, realising that I actually didn't remember his order or him.
