Oikawas POV
When I offered Kentaro a position on the team again, it was because I knew he would be a powerful weapon for us to use. I wasn't expecting him to hospitalize someone!
In all my years of playing this sport, I have never been in a meeting with both coaches because of an incident with another player. I felt guilty enough for what happened to the girl but when Yukiko barged in and started yelling at us my guilt grew bigger and bigger. When she started ridiculing me the guilt pressed into my heart and it soon broke when she told me I didn't deserve to wear the jersey of a captain.
If it came from anyone else, I wouldn't care but when it comes from a person who meant so much more to me...I couldn't bear it.
The next couple of days I ended up skipping school. I didn't have the balls to show my face to my team after what happened. I felt like such a disappointment, a failure, I truely didn't feel as if I deserved to wear that jersey. I didn't deserve that title of captain if all I was gonna do was cause harm.
I was seriously doubting my abilities to be a part of this sport. Was this really what I was resulting to? I went behind Iwas back to recruit someone who we never properly trained or talked to knowing his history. God how could I be so stupid! Coach could get fired for this and if that girl decided to press charges then we're all screwed.
I've ruined my team over a stupid game.
"Tooru! Are you awake!" I heard my mother from downstairs yelling my name. "Yeah!" I yelled back "get down here! You have a visitor!". I was confused at first, "is it him?" I got out of bed and rushed downstairs with a feeling of hope. That hope quickly disappeared when I saw who it was, "what do you want" I said. "I was hoping to speak with you" Ushijima said "the last time we were here we started something we haven't finished yet" I said "what is that exactly?" He asked "nevermind, come in" I said, stepping aside.
"What do you want" I said "I came to speak to you about Hakura-San" he said "why? Is she ok?" I asked "she came to me crying her eyes out because you hospitalized her best friend" he said "I wasn't the one who spiked that ball!" I exclaimed "you did set it though" he said. "Listen son of a bitch, I didn't mean to hurt that girl. I'll take responsibility for taking Kyotani back to the team but those were his actions not mine" I said. "You are a captain Oikawa, the actions of your teammates reflect on your leadership skills. This type of situation shouldn't be taken lightly and you're lucky that poor girl won't be pressing charges" he said.
"I don't need your lecture Wakatoshi, I know what I did but I'm human and I make mistakes. The girl hates me, I know she's hurting and she'll never forgive me for what happened" I felt my chest tighten up, "she really cried?" I asked "she was suspended from the team for a week because of her outburst" he said "I was able to cheer her up though" he added.
"Well I hope you two are happy together, invite me to your wedding while you're at it" I said walking past him "wedding? I did give her a ring but it wasn't for matrimony" he said. I spun around, "WHAT!?" I exclaimed "oh you don't know" he showed me his hand seeing a gray ring with a moon engraved "she has a sun one, she had been eyeing it for a while so I got it for her" he said. I couldn't believe it, this guy went right under me and romanced her?! "You're such a liar, you said you wanted her to be your mentor! You didn't say girlfriend!" I exclaimed "what?" He asked.
"Oh don't act stupid with me! You're in love with her aren't you" I said. He was about to say something but stopped himself, he started thinking, something he hadn't done apparently. "Yeah that's what I thought, I should've never tried to compete with you...I've alway lost with you" he said "you are also in love with Hakura-San, that's why you've been acting so differently" He asked "of course I am! She became the light of my life and I fucked it all up. I don't know how long she had to go to turn to an emotionless bastard like you" I said "do not speak about her that way. You don't know me like you think you do and you don't know Hakura-San like you want to; I'm here to deliver a message from her..she wants to see you" he said.
"Talk to me? About what?" I asked, "It's none of my concern to begin with, but we are sacrificing one of our Sunday practices so you two can meet" he said.
"Although...I wouldn't understand why she would want to see someone as egotistical as you" he said.
I glared at him, "watch it, I'll meet her wherever she wants...on one exception" I said. He raised his brow at me, "I don't want you there" I said "I don't feel comfortable leaving you two alone" he said "why? You think I'll take her away from you? Trust me she's all yours buddy. I'd like to show my emotions without you around to the women I love for the last time" he said "the last time?" He said
"yeah...the last time...I'll meet her, now, get out of my damn house" I said.
God I wish Iwa was here.
