After the kidnapping, Makoto had been busy with the cops and court trials associated with Katsu. She's expressed to me that she wants to be alone at this time. It was hard to accept that I couldn't be there for her but I respected her wishes.
I've tried distracting myself with other matters to get my mind off of everything that's been going on. Wakatoshi is the main person I've been spending my time with. I look at the ring he gave me everyday and our weekly volleyball practices have turned into more of date nights. We went to multiple places and spent our time just talking and relaxing in each other's presence.
The way I felt when I was with Toshi was pure bliss. His simple nature and understanding attitude took away all the anxiety I had. I became comfortable with telling people about us as we had made things official and most people are either shocked that I would be with such a serious looking persona or flaunt over his maturity and assume I was with him for some finically gain.
It left a bad taste in my mouth.
Nevertheless, I grew real feelings for him and the times when we're alone gave me another version of him that I don't see anywhere else. His laugh and smile were something else and I knew it was something that I was only able to see and that made me feel special.
When I wasn't with him, I was doing my volunteer work at the hospital near the school. I wanted a good resume for med school so I started with some kind of hospital work early in High School. The only downside was that it was the hospital that Kurro and Iwaizumi were admitted to. It was a harsh reminder of what happened but I had more important things to take care of; I knew they were in good hands anyway.
My tasks are mainly associated with storage, paperwork, and if they were short staff I would do clinical work or pharmaceutical tasks. As I was taking care of stuff in the waiting room, I got a text from Toshi. A smile creeped on my face as I saw his message, it was a photo of a white kitten with big blue eyes.
Yukiko: "aww, who is that little guy"
Toshi ❤️: "I'm at an adoption center with Tendou, this cat reminds me of you"
I blushed and giggled.
Yukiko: "oh? How sweet of you. They look so pretty, who would ever give them up?"
Toshi ❤️: "Her name is ChiChi, she was apart of a litter they found on the street"
Yukiko: "Stop! If only the dorm accepted pets 😫"
Toshi ❤️: "hmm, that's a shame. I'll see what I can do"
I was confused at his comment but noticed someone coming up to the desk. I put my phone away and looked up ready to say the greeting I always say to new comers to have it be whipped from my mind when I saw who it was.
"Oikawa?" I said "Hakura-San...this is a surprise" he said awkwardly "I volunteer here, are you here to see someone?" I asked "oh cool, yeah, Iwaizumi?" He said "oh! Right I should've known. Have you been seeing him regularly?" I asked going the computer "yeah, Amami-San and I have been his only visitors I'm assuming" he said "it seems like it, are his parents aware of his condition?" I asked "they don't really care, they know what happened but they're more busy fixing up their house from the break in then their own son" he said. I heard the slightest hint of annoyance in his tone, I wouldn't blame him.
"I see, well it's good that he has you and Rise. You're a really good friend to him" I said "we've known each other since elementary, when you have a friend for that long you're practically siblings" he said. As he finished his sentence, my phone rang and there appeared Toshi's contact. The screen turned into a photo of us with cat ears and whiskers drawn on us with the name being Toshi ❤️.
His gaze went to my phone as I put it on silent. "Me and the girls are like that too, that's why we're so close. You're all checked in, you know his room number?" I asked "...you guys are official" he said "...just recently" I said fidgeting with my thumbs "he treats you right?" He asked "fantastic" I said "you're happy?" He asked "very" I said. He nodded, "that's all that matters then, I know his room number. I'll see you around" he said leaving the reception desk.
"Yeah", our conversation was short and unfulfilling. I was left with a solid in the bottom of my stomach as if I should've said something or he should've said something. Someone should've said something...but I don't know what.
After my shift ended, I saw Toshi's message and he told me that he would pick me up. I waited outside and saw his car pull up, I smiled and threw my bag in the back seat as I entered the passanger. "Hey! Thanks for pic-" my words were cut off by him putting a white cat in my face with both hands. I was taken aback by the sky blue eyes that I was looking at. "I got the cat" he said simply "Toshi...you didn't" I said taking her in my hands and I instantly fell in love "I know you wanted her, she can stay with me until you finish school and we can figure something out from there" he said.
I gave him a happy look and kissed his cheek, "thank you, you're the sweetest guy ever" I said, holding her in my lap. "I appreciate the affection, was your shift successful?" He asked. I giggled, "it was very successful, are you taking her home with you?" I asked "I am, I've bought her food, water, a bed, and some toys" he said "wow, you really went all out for this little girl" I said "she can keep my company...you've been really busy lately" he said "I know, I'm glad you'll have company but I'll be done with volunteer soon enough so you'll have me all to yourself" I said. "I like the sound of that, if you're going to be free you should come and watch my game I have next month" he said "you have a game? Against who?" I asked, "Seijoh" he said.
My face dropped, "I see, I bet it'll be fun" I said "come you make it?" He asked "I'll have to check but I'm sure I'll be able to" I asked "good, want to introduce my future fiancé to the team" he said.
I blushed as he said that, "Toshi stop, do you really refer to me as such?"" I asked "of course I do, you will be my wife one day Yukiko and I don't intend to lose you like I almost did the first time" he said.
I messed with the promise ring he had given me all those weeks ago. I never take it off, I wear it everywhere I go. Knowing that he was serious about marriage with me makes me complete. I was born and raised to get married to a nice man, that's what my family always wanted. It was a perfect outcome...but why did I feel incomplete still?
The thought of seeing Oikawa made me think of the times when we were talking, how we left things so messy and quick, I wondered if my life would still be this perfect if I chose him instead of Toshi. It's an insane thought, I was with a man I loved and who loved me as much.
Why was I thinking these things then?
