Jisoo adjusted the sling supporting her cast as she and Lisa made their way down a narrow, overgrown path.
They had decided to explore an abandoned factory on the outskirts of town, a place rumored to be haunted. Despite Jisoo's injury, the thrill of adventure and the need for a distraction from her situation had led her to agree to Lisa's spontaneous plan. Also, she only joined to get away from Chaeyoung's pampering for a while.
"Are you sure you're up for this?" Lisa asked, glancing at Jisoo with concern.
Jisoo grinned, trying to hide the discomfort in her arm. "Absolutely. I could use a little excitement."
Lisa chuckled. "Well, you're in for a treat. This place is supposed to be really creepy."
The factory loomed ahead, its broken windows and crumbling walls giving it an eerie appearance. They squeezed through a gap in the fence and stepped into the shadowy interior. Dust motes danced in the beams of light that filtered through the cracks in the ceiling.
"Wow, this place is even creepier than I thought," Lisa muttered, her voice echoing slightly.
Jisoo nodded, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and excitement. "Let's just stick together, okay?"
They ventured deeper into the factory, the silence amplifying every creak and groan of the old building. As they turned a corner, a sudden noise made them both jump.
"What was that?" Lisa whispered, clutching Jisoo's good arm.
"I don't know," Jisoo replied, her voice trembling. "Maybe it's just the wind."
But the sound came again, louder this time, and Jisoo felt a chill run down her spine. "Let's get out of here," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
They turned back the way they came, but the factory seemed to twist and turn in ways they hadn't noticed before. The walls closed in around them, the darkness becoming more oppressive with each step.
"Jisoo, I think we're lost," Lisa said, panic creeping into her voice.
Jisoo tried to stay calm, but fear was clawing at her chest. "We just need to find the way we came in. It's got to be around here somewhere."
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed through the building, and they both screamed and dropped their flashlights. Lisa's grip tightened on Jisoo's arm, and they bolted toward what they hoped was the exit.
After what felt like an eternity of running, they burst out into the open air, gasping for breath. They leaned against the fence, their hearts racing.
"That was... intense," Lisa panted, trying to catch her breath.
Jisoo nodded, her cast feeling heavier than ever. "Yeah, let's never do that again."
"Should...Should I call us a ride?"
"What do you think?"
"Well I don't have service"
"Neither do I!"
"Then we'll walk."
As they started walking back toward town, a familiar car pulled up beside them. The window rolled down, revealing Jennie's concerned face.
"What are you two doing out here?" Jennie asked, her tone a mix of worry and exasperation.
"We decided to explore the abandoned factory," Lisa admitted sheepishly. "But it was way scarier than we thought."
Jennie shook her head, her expression softening. "Get in. I'll give you a ride home."
As they climbed into the car, Jisoo noticed Jennie's red-rimmed eyes and the tear-streaked cheeks she was trying to hide. Lisa was sitting in the back explaining to Jennie the horrors of their exploration, the brunette listened while driving.
Jisoo didn't say anything, but instead looked out the window watching as they grew closer to the neighborhood.
"Man Jennie! You just had to be there!" Lisa laughs, "we screamed like horror movies."
"I bet." Jennie chuckled.
As they stopped to Jisoo's house, Lisa got off to stretch while Jisoo remained seated. Jennie turned off the car and looked over at the older girl,
"Jennie, are you okay?" Jisoo asked gently.
Jennie sighed, gripping the steering wheel tightly. "Kai and I broke up. I was just driving around, trying to clear my head."
"Oh, I'm sorry. Do you want to talk about it?" Jisoo offered
Jennie shook her head. "Not right now. I just don't want to think about it."
"Well Thank you, Jennie. And I'm really sorry about Kai. We're here for you, okay?" Jisoo offered her a smile, before opening the door.
Jennie managed a small smile. "Thanks, Jisoo. I appreciate it."
Lisa and Jisoo watched as Jennie drove away, the weight of the day settling over them.
"Let's make a pact," Lisa said suddenly, her voice firm.
"A pact? Now?" Jisoo echoed, curious.
"Yeah," Lisa nodded. "No more exploring creepy places. Let's stick to safer adventures."
Jisoo smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Agreed."
And as they walked up the steps to Jisoo's house, they both shared one thought that made their friendship. Just one thought of when they opened that door-
