TW:

Slight mentions of homophobia and death

(This chapter starts Tuesday, the day after the last chapter)

My worrying quickly centered entirely around Ray and his aunt. He had told me that he would be fine, but that is not very believeable. I'm in history class right now. The teacher is yapping, but I have no clue what about, as I have not been listening.

Finally, he said, "You may begin working now," and passed out papers.

Emma(who sits next to me in that class) leaned over and asked me, "Hey Norman? You doing alright? You look worried."

Damn, it was that easy to tell? "Oh, yeah, just everything going on with Ray."

She looked confused, "Uh... what happened with Ray?"

I jumped, "He didn't tell you?!"

"EH?"

"His mother died in a car accident last Friday!"

Emma looked shocked, "HUH."

"And now he lives with his aunt who is apparently patronizing and also homophobic."

"Bruh how did I not know this," the shock, was wearing off, now Emma just seemed disappointed that she had been excluded.

I gave her a few seconds to let it sink in, and then added, "Also she caught kissing and forbade Ray to speak to me anymore, but we've been talking anyway."

"Damn. So what specifically are you worried about?" Emma said this in a similar tone that I think a therapist would use.

I looked down, "I don't want him to be sad."

"Then cheer him up. Take him on a date," she suggested.

"That is not a bad idea."

Abruptly, Mr. Daniels was directly in front us, "Emma, Norman, get to work."

(Timeskip to lunch)

Ray and I met up outside the cafeteria, as we always do. While we were walking outside I asked him, "Ray?"

Ray looked up at me, "hm?"

I immediately became flustered. He's so pretty asmkdjkdkj, "Uh, do you want to go to the park with me after school?"

He went red as well, "Norman, are you asking me on a date."

"Yes?"

"Then HELL YEAH."

I did a victory dance and he laughed. We kept walking and laughing until we got to the tree where Emma was waiting for us.

She saw the looks on our faces, nodded in approval and fist bumped me, "Nice."

(Second timeskip to end of day bc no way I'm writing all Norman's classes)

When school ended, I nearly ran outside with how excited I was.

Ray was waiting for me, so I ran into him and hugged him, "Ready?" I asked.

"Ready."

I grabbed his hand and we walked to the park. Every now and then he just smiled at me for no apparent reason. We got there after about a three minute walk and sat down near the park in a small field. We sat in peaceful silence, but Ray kept glancing over at the park where kids were playing with their parents watching.

"You alright, Ray? You want to go somewhere more private?"

He looked nervous, "Only if you do."

I snatched his hand again and started singing 'I Know Places' by Taylor Swift as I lead him to the forest, "Just grab my hand and don't ever drop it, my love"

Ray smiling, tripping as I pulled him forward too fast, "I would sing along but I don't know the words," he laughed.

"I need to convert you into swiftie," I said in mock disgust.

After tripping over a rock and bringing Ray down with me, we arrived at the place I had decided to bring him. It was an open field surrounded by forest, covered in wildflowers.

"Whoa," Ray said. "This is beautiful."

"Not as beautiful as you."

"AH STOP THAT-" he pushed me and I tumbled into the flowers.

I sat down cross legged and started to pick nearby flowers and weave them into a flower crown.

Ray sat down next to me, "What are you doing?"

"You'll see," I answered in a sing-song voice.

When I finished, I put the crown on his head. He responded by picking a dandelion and tucking it behind my ear.
