chapter five

"AT LEAST-" I CONTINUED TO GO ON, holding up my hand- "that's what my father thinks due to an argument that he and my uncle had during the last Winter Solstice. It wasn't until the end of the meeting that my father realized that the master bolt was missing, taken under his watch. He immediately went to blame Uncle P, saying that he tricked him into an argument as a distraction for the thief to take it."

"I didn't do anything." Percy told me, his mouth falling open in shock at hearing my words and the implication

"I didn't do anything." Percy repeated himself in front of Mr. D and Chiron once we settled inside the big house

"Zeus is looking for a thief, sees a forbidden child claimed by his jealous brother..." Mr. D was saying as he leaned against the table, "It doesn't look good for you, kid."

"I didn't do anything." He repeated himself once more, shaking his head frantically and Chiron soothed his worries, "Of course, you didn't."

"But your father needs your help. An ultimatum has been given to him by Zeus that if he doesn't return the bolt by the summer solstice in one week...there will be war. That is your quest. You must leave immediately." Chiron informed him calmly and Percy's eyes widened

"Leave? Leave for where?" Percy questioned the centaur with a tilt of his head

"Zeus is king on Olympus and Poseidon has always resented it, but...there is a third brother who has always deeply resented them both." Chiron reminded Percy and he answered it right away in realization

 "It's Hades. The bolt is with Hades. In the Underworld." Percy flatly stated to us and Chiron spoke up once more

"I know it sounds daunting. But you won't be alone, a quest is always undertaken by three, but when I spoke to the Oracle about this quest, she said four campers must go."

"Great. Good luck finding those guys 'cause it gonna be me." Percy shook his head in denial, taking a step back

"Poseidon has claimed you. This is his will." Chiron firmly told him and Percy lifted his head, staring at Chiron in the eyes

"Poseidon has ignored me for my entire life."

"You are his son." Mr.D reminded Percy with a scoff as he crossed his arms

"I am Sally Jackson's son!"

"Who's Sally Jackson?"

"She's the one who cared enough to call herself my mother. She's the one who got herself killed so that I could be safe here."

"The fate of the world hangs in the balance." Mr. D leaned forward to talk to Percy, "You will accept this quest!"

"I won't!"

"Hey, everybody." I sighed in relief that Grover walked into the room, because if I had to step up to defend Percy, I was definitely going to lose the fight against Mr. D

"Grover, now is not the time." Chiron told Grover as he shook his head repeatedly at the satyr in front of us

"I'm sorry, sir. But I have news." Grover spoke up, glancing at the centaur with uneasiness making me wonder what happened
