WE STOOD ON THE EDGE OF A TALL BUILDING as it rained heavily and the wind kept hitting my body but my mother had me in her grip, leaning me against her side. It was weird since Thalia had taken me away at age 3 so I didn't know her at all at my current age. I couldn't help but lean slightly forward to take a look back on her. I never really dreamed about her, but whenever I did, she looked the same.
Her blonde hair was curled perfectly, and her eyes were blue that dimmed whenever she looked down at me. I leaned back to settle against her side, wanting to enjoy the dream and I took a deep breath, my nose wrinkling as I could smell the aerosol from her hairspray and her perfume that smelled like lemons. Her smile was tight as she looked up at the sky before looking down at me.
"Can you feel it, Rhea?" My mother asked me in a low voice and I outstretched my arm to feel the rain on my arm
"Rain?"
"No, the wind. It's getting stronger." My mother spoke as if the rain wasn't bother and it probably wasn't because she still looked picture perfect to me
"I can't." I confessed to my mother in a low voice, not knowing what was happening because this scene playing out had never happened
"You really can, you just have to try." I have no idea why she was encouraging me because from what Thalia had told me and from what I remember briefly, she was an alcoholic
"Do I though?" I raised an eyebrow at her direction with my arms crossed and her blue eyes flashed in my direction
"Yes, you can! You need to learn!" She spat out at me angrily and I froze before taking a few steps the side
"Learn what?! I don't even know who you are!" I exclaimed to the woman in front of me, and it was true, she didn't raise me
"Come on," A softer voice pleaded with me behind my back making me freeze, "Just do it once with me"
"I want to wake up now." I stated firmly but my surroundings stayed the same, I was trapped with the two females
"Rhea, you have to learn." The ghost of mother or whatever it was vanished from my sight but I still didn't turn to face the new voice
"You know I'd never put you in danger right? Rhea, you have to know what to do." Her voice sounded the same as I last remembered, "It could be dangerous. One day, it could be really important and I'm not gonna be there to help you. I need to make sure you can do it."
"Who are you?"
"Look at me, Rhea. Turn around, and look at me." Her voice was defiant but I closed my eyes and slowly spun to face her direction
"Open your eyes." She demanded from me and I did what I was told but I couldn't see her since my surroundings had changed
"Thalia?! Thalia!?" I called out for my sister as I was back in the desert and looking around for her but this time I was by myself
"Hello again, little hero." The mysterious voice greeted me back once more making me freeze in my tracks, "What sort of trouble are you up to now?"
"A forbidden child attracts attention. A forbidden hero? Well..." I spun around to see the figure still making its way to me with their lantern at their side
"They attract doom. She is coming." The figure continued and my eyes widened and I tried to wake myself up
I groaned as I felt my body shaking before snapping my eyes open. I took a deep breath, and rubbed my hands over my eyes, wondering who the figure was in my dreams. I pulled the blanket a little big tighter on me as I stared up at the ceiling.
