Skylar jumps at the voice, which was definitely not coming from his head, and finally pulls his hands from his face, sitting up in alarm. He has to blink a few times for his vision to clear, but after that happens, he finds someone kneeling in front of him.
There are a familiar set of dark eyes staring at him, hood down this time. Ashton. He breaks eye contact to look somewhere on Skylar's face, and his expression darkens. After a moment he appears to move on—at least for the time being—and before he knows it Skylar is removed from the ground and in the guy's arms.
It takes a while, but slowly, the visions simmer down so he can actually function. Yeah, the monsters don't really come after him when people are around. Or, they didn't. They're getting more aggressive the longer he goes without cytozine, though.
Skylar is unable to hug back because of his restrained wrists, but Ashton is warm and comforting, so he just folds his arms against his chest and leans into the man's embrace. He's taken back to a short while ago, when he was about to die and this was all he wanted. To feel safe, which is undeniable. Any time he's with Ash, he feels safe.
However, there's also a lot that's changed since then.
For one, the hallucinations and voices are both getting worse. Skylar is growing closer and closer to a serious risk of losing his fucking mind, so he needs to get back. Also, there is one thing weighing on his mind right now above anything else, and it's the gore he just witnessed. Also, the fact that this guy is the perpetrator. Countless deaths, because of him.
Somewhere at the back of his mind Skylar knew that Ashton was likely capable of a lot. However, this is worse than he could've ever imagined.
Ash pulls away after a while, and Skylar sways, doing everything he can to keep his balance and not be obvious about his withdrawal. Despite the fact that it appears he's found out one of Ashton's secrets, that doesn't mean Ash needs to have any knowledge of his own.
