It doesn't get any better after that. Skylar stays in his bedroom, door locked, for days.

He does exit every once in a while, but only when he knows for a fact Ash is not home. Those are pretty much the only times he does so, and during these three days, Skylar uses the rest of his supply.

Yep, all seven pills he had left are gone when it's all said and done. Ash does knock on his door and text him every once in a while, but Skylar is not in the mood to talk to that fucking guy. He wants to hope for the best, wants to assume Ash has a good reason for keeping things from him. However, he's never been the most optimistic, and the longer he goes, secluded in this room, the more he begins to doubt that.

Maybe he's trying to shield Skylar from that side of him, but it could just as easily be a lack of trust that's the issue. Again, Skylar doesn't want to believe it, but at this point... what is the likelihood that he has a good reason?

Anyway, Skylar runs out within two days, because he's so upset. He loses all of his motivation to stay clean, and takes it even more often than he was before. On his third day holding himself prisoner in his room—about six hours after officially running out of cytozine—withdrawal is already setting in.

Skylar doesn't even care at this point. If Ash won't give him the respect of not being a secretive asshole, then why should Skylar stick around? At this point, Ashton is the only person actively in his life that at least pretends to give a fuck. He can't remember the last time he talked to Jessie—although, to be fair, the guy is probably swamped in homework—and his Mom only cares out of obligation.

Ashton was his only reason for making an effort to get his life on track, but the guy has hardly tried to contact him in the past couple days. Maybe he's just trying to give Skylar his space or something, who knows? Either way it doesn't help, and yeah, Skylar doesn't give a fuck anymore. He hopes he dies in here, alone, because that's what was always bound to happen anyway. It's what he deserves. However, he doesn't want Ash to be the one to find his body.

That said, Skylar currently has a Plan A and a Plan B. His first plan is to search this entire fucking place top to bottom to make sure that Ash actually threw way the rest of his supply, because he has a feeling he didn't. That would be quite risky.

His second plan, if that fails and Ashton actually did dispose of it all, is to pack his shit and leave. Probably in the dead of night, so Ashton isn't awake to stop him.

By the time Skylar is sure Ash is gone—Skylar knows because he saw his shoes and keys were missing, not because he actually heard the guy leave—Skylar gets to work.

First he searches Ash's bathroom, and he finds nothing. Then, he goes through Ash's bedroom, and once again has no luck. He searches through the kitchen, top to bottom. By the time he's cleared about half the house, the place is a mess. He didn't even try to be clean about it—he just doesn't care enough.

The withdrawal is worse this time, probably because he's been using way more often as of late in order to deal with his emotions. So, he's already seeing the shadow monsters. Luckily they're only following him around this time, like pets, not trying to attack him or talk to him or anything.

Skylar knows it won't last, though. He needs to do something.

After clearing most of the large spaces, and the obvious spots in the majority of the rooms, Skylar finally comes upon Ash's linen closet, right outside his room. He didn't even notice it before, and decides that it wouldn't hurt to search that as well.

So, he opens the door, and is met with the sight of several towels and blankets. There are also a few plastic bins on the top shelf, and Skylar decides to get the less likely stuff out of the way first. He rips all the blankets and towels out, shaking them in case there are pills folded up inside of them.
