Meanwhile, the fight between Virgo and Kugisaki against Mai had reached a tense standstill. Mai stood a few paces away, the tip of her pistol pressed against her cheek as she eyed the two females with a cold glare. Despite the situation, Kugisaki couldn't help but think that Mai looked hot like that, though she would never admit it to the enemy. If only...

Mai, on the other hand, was torn between frustration and grudging respect. Deep down, she knew that if Kugisaki weren't here, [Name]'s celestial spirit, Virgo, could have swept the floor with her. However, if it were just Kugisaki alone, Mai was confident she would have won the fight easily.

Kugisaki harrumphed, crossing her arms defiantly. "Seems like you aren't going to win," she taunted, a smirk playing on her lips.

Mai scoffed, lowering her pistol slightly. "If you were by yourself, I guarantee I would've won. You better watch who you pick fights with."

The words hit a nerve, and Kugisaki's smirk turned into a dark glare. Just because Mai was hot didn't mean Kugisaki would let her walk all over her. Virgo took a step forward, placing herself protectively in front of Kugisaki, blocking Mai's view of her.

Mai pursed her lips but didn't bother to comment further. The advice she gave to Kugisaki definitely applied to her too even though the second year hates to admit it to herself.

"Mai, what do you think you're doing to... my errand girls?" a sharp voice cut in. Everyone turned their attention to seeing Maki making an appearance. Kugisaki lit up at the sight of her upperclassman, while Virgo relaxed slightly, recognizing Maki as another of their highness's friends. However, Virgo stayed vigilant, ready to protect Kugisaki no matter what. Virgo instantly knew that Maki can handle herself, but the spirit would make sure to be ready to step in, in case.

Mai's expression shifted to a darker tone as she looked at Maki. "Oh, my. You're so worthless I didn't notice you, Maki," Mai jabbed at her twin, smiling condescendingly.

Maki dryly chuckled, tilting her head slightly as she stared back at Mai. "I'd say we're both pretty much worthless. All you do is imbue objects with cursed energy, you've got shit for a cursed technique," Maki retorted, smiling sweetly at her sister.

Mai scoffed. "Well, that's better than not having any cursed energy like a certain someone," she pointed out, but Maki didn't seem affected by the comment. Mai's eye twitched slightly, but she quickly smoothed out her expression and smirked, trying to make up for what she lacked. "If I keep looking at my goals, then my neck will start to hurt. Sometimes I have to look at what's below me."

Mai's smile turned cocky as she got the reaction she wanted. Maki now looked a bit angry at her sister's comment. "You always were good at talking big, Mai. But words are just words," Maki said, her voice steady, through her eyes blazed with restrained anger.

Kugisaki glanced between the two sisters, sensing the deep-seated rivalry.

Virgo stood protectively in front of Kugisaki, her gaze fixed on Mai. "Do you wish for me to intervene, Lady Kugisaki?" Virgo asked quietly.

Kugisaki shook her head. "No, Virgo. Let's see how this plays out. Maki can handle herself."

Virgo hummed, "understood." The two watch the sibling spat.

"Man, those two have way too much family drama," Kugisaki whispered to Virgo, who nodded in agreement.

"I am grateful that their highness does not have siblings like them two," Virgo giggled behind her hand, finding the twins' conversation strangely adorable.

"Their highness?" Kugisaki questioned, but then realized who Virgo meant. "Ah, [Name]."

Virgo nodded. "Their highness insists I call them by their name, but I cannot do that, even if their highness were to punish me." Virgo began to blush at the mere thought of what [Name] would do, causing Kugisaki to freak out and take a long step to the side as Virgo giggled like a maiden in love.
