You hadn’t left your room, locking all of them out since returning home. You even made sure to slap Chan across the face when he put you down. That poor man would forever remember the palm of your hand. He just closed his eyes, taking it like he knew he deserved it.
A knock sounded at your door.
“Fuck off.”
“O-oh..”
It was Felix. Now you felt even worse. He was an angel and didn't deserve your anger.
You ran to the door and opened it, pulling him in before anyone else could snake through the door. He was startled by the manhandling. Since when did you get so strong?
“Sorry Felix. I’m mad at the others, not you. You’re too pure for this world.”
He laughed nervously. “Unfortunately I’ve been offered up as a sacrifice actually.”
You looked at him betrayed, rolling your eyes. Not him conspiring against you too. “So they sent you to convince me to come down eh?”
He sighed, taking a seat on your bed after wandering in that direction. “Yes, unfortunately. But to be honest, I just wanted to see you. Whether you go down and talk to them or not isn’t up to me.”
You smiled at him, taking a seat on the bed as well, leaning your head against his shoulder.
He giggled, wrapping his arms around you and pulling the both of you down onto the bed, lightening up the mood, even though the joy didn't fully reach your heart.
Regardless, it was always so peaceful when you were in Felix’s arms.
“I think I have to confess something, sunshine.”
“Mm?”
Yongbok took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. “I know what Seungmin has been up to and why you’ve been not feeling like yourself. Even now, your eyes have changed colour.”
You sat up immediately doing your best to get away from Felix, but he just pulled you back in, turning you around so he could spoon you and keep you locked in.
“Your body is burning up again. Your eyes change colour, and it’s like your mind becomes something else, but I’ve got you, just take deep breaths.”
You tried to relax, but he was right. Those strange urges from before that had you attacking Minho and the others were starting again. Who knows how long you had before Felix was in danger as well.
“Seungmin had been reading the old text. I would catch him in his room going through scrolls and books, just trying to find the answers, and I think he may have found some, but with the pressure of you taking the amulet, he was in a hurry and made a terrible mistake.”
You tried to escape from Felix, although you could still hear what he was saying.
“I know Seungmin. I care about him deeply. And I think he thought what he was doing was the right choice. But he always makes decisions alone.”
Your skin was on fire, and you needed some type of relief from the pain as your mind spiraled out of control.
“Seungmin didn’t want you bound to us with the possibility that you could break the promise and be gone forever. He wanted you to be a vampire. No promise, no contract, and freedom to choose who you loved.”
You stopped moving. Your body calmed and your mind cleared almost miraculously. What was Felix trying to say? His confession was keeping you curious and grounded.
“Unfortunately, he went about it all wrong. He put his blood in the amulet, instead of everyone’s to trick us into thinking it was still good. So the promise is only half complete. He didn’t anticipate it still working as much as it did. It’s why you’ve been reacting the way you have; you’ve been trying to complete the promise.”
