It was as if you were in a dream, but you knew you felt your body alive in the real world. It was heavy.
Light broke in, forcing your eyes to open. Where were you?
You got up and stumbled out of bed taking a peek out the window. The roses were open, their petals just beginning their descent to the ground. The garden was green and fully in bloom.
Tears. Someone was crying. Your name was being called.
You took a step away from the window and walked forward to the rooms exit. There was a familiar pull leading you to the door.
Gripping the handle, you waited, but your hand didn't. It had opened the door without your consent.
You took two more steps.
Another door in front of you. Closed. The tears were falling just beyond the closed barrier.
One step after another. Another handle turned.
A dark room, no light, but a bed occupied.
You reached to your chest almost instinctively and felt a heavy weight.
The amulet. The heart was red, no longer clear and empty.
Three more steps forward. And a silent sobbing only you could hear.
You followed what was drawing you in until you were at the bed. The figure faced away from you.
“I'm here.”
The crying stopped in response to your voice, but you still felt a pull. You listened, getting down onto the bed and wrapped your arms around the mysterious creature.
A man.
More than a man.
Your soulmate, although something felt distant. You couldn't place it. Your heart felt like it was yearning for something, but it wouldn't tell you.
You kissed his neck.
“I'm dreaming right?”
“No, I'm here.”
The man turned around. You recognized his face. You loved him. You knew him.
You kissed him softly. “Chan, I'm here.”
“I was waiting for you and calling for you but you wouldn't wake up. I have to be dreaming.”
You got into the bed and pulled him close to you. “I'm here. I promise. You trust me right?”
“More than anything.”

It had been several days since you had woken up, and much longer that you had been unconscious. Everyone knew you were alive and well, but it did take many reassuring talks. Everyone had coped in various ways and the house had basically been quiet while you were out.
Thankfully though, you were well again.
You felt like yourself. Nothing had changed to your knowledge. You wanted to ask why they didn’t just turn you into a vampire when they thought you had died, but you had a sneaking suspicion there was more to it than what you had seen in movies.
You yawned walking up the stairs. It had been several weeks since you’d been able to attend school, so maybe you needed to go back. What would that even be like? It’s not like you had a real home to return to.
Lost in your thoughts, you tripped on the last step reaching the second floor just as Hyunjin was stepping out of his room.
He got down to the floor with haste to help you up.
“Ow! I’m sorry, I’m okay, I promise!”
He scooped you up with a scoff and brought you to his room to sit on his bed.
“You cut your knee.”
“Yeah I think I scraped it against a nail sticking up from the floorboards in the corner. I forgot to hammer it back in last time I saw it.”
He shook his head disapprovingly at the situation. “I should have taken care of it.”
“You didn’t even know it was there.”
“Doesn’t matter!” You were taken aback by his outburst. “Look what happened.” You could see him swallow hard when he caught sight of the blood drip down your leg.
“You haven’t eaten in a while have you?”
He shook his head. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Hyunjin-ah…” You tilted his chin up, making him look you in the eyes. “You can take some from me.”
He swatted your hand away. “No! I’m not doing that again.”
You smiled at him, a boldness coming over you. You almost craved this connection.
Maybe something did happen to you afterall.
You grabbed his face lightly, turning him towards you yet again. “Hyunjin, if you won’t do it for you, will you do it for me baby?”
He shivered. Your eyes looked different, yet somehow the same. It didn’t help that he and the others had been feeling different since you woke up. There was an eerie atmosphere in the mansion.
He watched you slide your sleeve off your shoulder, taunting him. He wanted to give in so badly and was about to, but suddenly your eyes seemed to come back to normal, and you had gotten to your feet. He was confused. Your personality shifted so quickly.
“Sorry! I’ve got to go!”
You rushed out of the room, leaving him dumbfounded.
He eyed his thumb that had your blood on it. Something was off.
He licked at his finger and the overwhelming sense of pleasure and satisfaction flooded his taste buds. He desperately wanted more, yet, there was an aftertaste. He couldn't figure out what was wrong, but something within it tasted nothing like you.

You sped down the stairs, bumping into Changbin, startling him as he grabbed you so you didn’t fall.
“Why are you running?!” He chuckled. You looked at him lost, almost confused as to where you were or why you were here. “Oh! Your knee!”
You followed his line of sight, and back up to him with a smile pushing him against a wall. He was genuinely freaked out by your sudden change in demeanor. Your eyes had seemed to darken, or change colour even, like you had been possessed.
“What? Are you curious about it?” He swallowed, looking around the room for an escape route, trying his best not to completely just give in and give you anything you wanted. “You want it too right? I could give it to you.”
Changbin nervously made eye contact with you, but that was a mistake. “I-I could hurt you, d-don’t put me in this position!”
“But you do want it right?”
He took a deep breath, closing his eyes. “Yes…”
“Then go for it.”
Changbin’s heart was pounding. He still had his eye’s closed, until you let him go, taking several steps away hyperventilating.
“What’s wrong?” He rushed down to where you were crouching on the ground. Your eyes returning to normal as you gave him a look of terror.
You got to your feet quickly and ran as fast as you could. He shouted for you, but you were already out the door and to the garden hoping to find some peace away from everyone and everything happening in your mind.
Something was wrong, and unfortunately you had no chance to sort it out yourself as you stumbled upon Minho, sitting alone in the garden.
Away from anyone who could keep him safe.
