Life or Death

Collectively, everyone couldn't believe what they had heard. Their boisterous voices mixed together in the quiet room.
"WHAT!?"

You shushed them as quickly as you could. "Listen, hear me out!"

"Y/n, that's a terrible idea!"

You glanced back at Jeongin in amusement. It didn't really shock you, but nonetheless, you were amused. "So you know my name?"

He averted his gaze, trying desperately to avoid all the eyes on him.

"Anyways!" You decided to end his misery. "My idea is this. The thing is, I either live or die, really. You could hide me and try explaining things, but they'll just find me and kill me. So why not instead, make it a big dramatic scene that they're forced to take part in?"

"Explain." Seungmin urged.

"Well, pretend like you dragged me in here, calling for help. Demand help, scatter their brains. Maybe I fought valiantly to protect one of you."

All of them cringed. "The only problem is, we're all banned from leaving the mansion right now." Felix added, throwing a wrench in your grand scheme.

"Well, actually-" Jisung suddenly had everyone's attention. "I'm not, just you three. And I think I have a plan."

"This is a terrible idea!" Jeongin protested as they watched from the tiny basement window.

"Shh!"

"No Seungmin, I agree with Jeongin. It's pretty bad-"

"HYUNG!! COME QUICK!"

You pretended to be lifeless in the arms of Jisung at the front steps of the main door. You couldn't believe you were playing pretend with vampires. And on top of it, your performance would be either the end of your life, or the start of a very strange new one.

You hung limp and peaked as another vampire rushed out the door, stumbling on the first step.

Oh no, he was hot. You closed your eyes again. You only caught a glimpse, but if that was the last thing you saw before you died... well, mission complete. You lived a good life.

"Jisung! What happened?"

"Minho, I went off the property to clear my head-" he gasped for breath as the other vampire got closer, clearly keeping a distance in-between you and him, but getting as close to Jisung as possible. It felt like there was actual fear in Jisung's voice, too. He sounded like he was experiencing real anxiety, or perhaps he was just a really good actor. "I got attacked, I don't know who they were or what they wanted. But this girl, she saw everything! She protected me. And I pulled her over the line. I wasn't even thinking I was so scared, but please! I'll do everything I can to keep her safe. Don't kill her! Don't let the others kill her!" He hugged you tighter, and honestly, if you weren't directly involved, you'd be in tears right now, stirred by such a heartbreaking performance.

"Jisung, it's okay. We won't hurt her. Take a deep breath. This isn't time for a lecture, so why don't we find out what Chan and Changbin want to do?"

"What about Hyunjin?"

Minho let out a short laugh. "He doesn't get a say."

Your body relaxed. You were sure Jisung felt it. You had made it past two of the four scary vampires if this Hyunjin dude didn't count.

You felt yourself being lifted into the other man's arms, which honestly freaked you out the most since getting here. At least with Jisung, you knew you were safe. Well, as safe as one could be in the arms of a predator.

You were rushed inside and brought to a comfortable surface at the top floor.

"Wait here, I'll get Chan and Changbin."

You listened as the footsteps left the room, and you were alone with Jisung. He was right next to your ear, startling you, but you had to act like you were completely fine.

"We're in Minho's room. Chan and Changbin are coming. How are you holding up?"

You gave a timid thumbs up, then went back to being "asleep". Thankfully, you hadn't been fully cleaned up by Seungmin when this plan came into play, so you really did look like you were beaten beyond belief.

"Yah! You brought a human?" A loud one entered the room followed by a much calmer voice.

"It's okay, I'm really not too worried about it, Changbin. We can make sure she's okay and figure something out. Thanks, Minho. Jisung, I'd like to talk to you first, then I'll speak to Minho and Changbin privately."

The door closed, and there were two left in the room, one of them being Jisung.

"You got attacked?"

"Hyung, I'm really worried about her. She saved my life. Please don't hurt her."

"It's okay, just take a seat. I'm not going to hurt her, and I'll make sure the others don't as well. We have a few options, and I'll discuss those with Minho and Changbin, but those options will depend on her heart. Her intentions."

"Hyung, believe me, she's good. I promise."

You heard the other approach Jisung, who was now seated on the bed.

"I believe you, but I do need to know who attacked you. That is what we have to deal with first."

"I'm sorry Chan, I can't think of it right now, I think I need to go rest."

Chan stayed silent for some time as he processed what to say next. "Hmm, well, you do have the worst memory out of all of us, I'll give you that, but I can tell you're not being completely truthful with me."

"Hyung please. I want to go lay down. I was really scared."

The older one laughed. "Okay, I'll let you off the hook this time. But we'll be discussing this later. Take care of yourself."

"Okay, thank you."

A short while later, Jisung was gone, and the others entered the room.

"So, what's the plan?" Minho asked as he closed the door.

"Hmmm, well, we really have two options. But I can tell someone isn't being honest."

"So we should kill her?" Changbin asked, and it felt like your heart was about to drop to your stomach.

"Nah nah nah, calm down. Geez, I know it's almost time, but can't you wait a few days? Unbelievable. Besides, I think I know where our next meal will come from."

"Oh?"

"Mhm. But before I get into that, here's our two options. Option one, she's trapped here forever. Oh well, she can't tell our secret. Or-"

"Or?" Minho asked, dying to know.

"We bring out the amulet. I think Jeongin has some explaining to do."
