XVI - Distance

Third Person's POV

Vida wasn't that bad of a company. Astrea thought to herself.

Mahigit dalawang oras na silang magkasama at akala niya ay hindi niya makakayanan ang personalidad nito, sure, Vida likes to tease her and so, but other than that, she kept a close distance from Astrea.

Parang ngang ibang tao ngayon si Vida kumpara noong nasa Hacienda sila. The Vida she's with now knows how to hold her composure, she's not that talkative either, but isn't scared to share her thoughts to her as well.

"Aren't you done yet, Vida?"

Naglalakad sila ngayon sa MOA, Vida's original plan was to go shopping today, which Astrea thought that she was scammed by the woman dahil siya ang nagdadala ng mga shopping bags ni Vida ngayon.

"Nope."

"I thought you wanted me to tour you here."

"You really think I don't know my way around here in Manila?" The ballerina giggles.

"Scammer ka pala eh."

"Hey, totoo naman yung sinabi ko na wala akong kilala dito bukod sa'yo."

"Ah talaga? So you've been around Manila, but don't have any friends here?"

Vida nodded, "..I used to. But they're not my friends anymore." She pointed towards the Gucci store, "Oh, I see some pretty dresses over there. Let's go."

In the end, wala na namang nagawa si Astrea at sinundan ang dalaga patungo sa shop para bumili ng mga damit. It took them almost an hour for Vida to find something that she finally bought. Bagot na bagot na si Astrea dahil imbes na matutulog sana siya ay nandito siya ngayon at nakaabang kung kailan matatapos ang shopping spree ni Vida.

Astrea was busy with her phone when suddenly she felt a figure standing in front of her which made her look at who it was, it was Vida extending the shopping bag to her.

"Here."

"You can't carry one shopping bag?" Astrea asked sarcastically.

"It's for you." Vida answers, "It's a top which I think will suit you."

"Para saan 'yan?"

"Geez, it's a gift, Astrea."

"I don't need it—"

"Learn how to accept things and just say thank you, it's not that hard." She grabbed her hand at pinahawak sa kanya ang bigay niya. "See? So, where's my thank you?"

Astrea looked at the gift bag that Vida handed her.

She finds it hard to accept gifts or things from people, as she doesn't feel that it's a need, or maybe because of the fact that she's never used to people giving her gifts at all. And if ever she did, it's because that person already means something to her.

Her attention went back to the older, "Thanks."

Vida crossed her arms above her chest, "With a smile, please."

"What?"

"Say it with a smile."

"Thanks." Astrea forced a smile while Vida giggled in response.

"You're welcome, sweetie." She took the shopping bags that were on the seat beside the younger, "Let's drop these off the car first, and then we'll head to the movies!"

She didn't wait for Astrea to answer her anymore as she walked first, leaving her with the gift she handed earlier. Hindi naman mapigilan ni Astrea ang mapaisip kung bakit ginagawa ito ni Vida.
