Katrina woke up early, the soft light of dawn filtering through her curtains. She had a busy day ahead, one that she had been eagerly anticipating. After her usual morning routine, she began packing her suitcases meticulously. Each item was placed with care, but she decided to leave the suitcases on her bed for now. First, she needed to visit the model agency.
Before stepping out, she gathered the essential items: the mysterious box her father had entrusted to her, the Souls book, her money, and her phone. She also packed a small bag with a few personal items, including a photo of her father for encouragement. The box felt heavier than usual, a reminder of the weight of her responsibilities and the secrets it contained.
Stepping out into the crisp morning air, Katrina opted to walk instead of taking the subway. The streets of Madrid were bustling with early-morning activity, and she wanted to soak in the vibrant energy of the city. As she walked, she stopped by a cozy café and ordered a cup of coffee. The rich aroma and the warmth of the cup in her hands were comforting, a small pleasure in her new, rapidly changing life.
Katrina observed the people around her: children heading to school, vendors setting up their stalls, and professionals hurrying to work. It was a stark contrast to her life in Poland, but she felt invigorated by the diversity and liveliness of her new environment. She took a deep breath, feeling a surge of optimism for the day ahead.
After finishing her coffee, she continued her walk to the model agency, a towering building that seemed to touch the sky. The sheer size of it was intimidating, but Katrina squared her shoulders and entered the lobby. The receptionist greeted her with a smile and handed her a list of models and their scheduled times for the day's exams.
As Katrina checked the list, her phone slipped from her grasp. Before it could hit the floor, another girl caught it with swift reflexes. "Here you go," the girl said, handing it back with a friendly smile. "I'm Tisha."
"Thanks," Katrina replied, grateful. "I'm Katrina. Are you here for the exams too?"
Tisha nodded, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Yeah, I just moved here from Poland. How about you?"
Katrina's eyes widened in surprise. "Me too! What a coincidence. It's nice to meet someone from home."
Tisha grinned. "Definitely. It's always good to find a familiar face in a new place."
Their conversation flowed easily as they shared stories about their lives in Poland and their hopes for the future. Katrina learned that Tisha had also lost her parents and had come to Spain in search of new opportunities. The shared experiences created an instant bond between them.
"So, have you heard about the Souls?" Katrina asked, trying to gauge Tisha's knowledge.
Tisha's expression grew serious. "Yes, I know about them. But I don't have a developed soul. So, if I had the opportunity of using somone else's power, I could only use one power at a time; otherwise, it could damage me."
Katrina was about to respond when the peaceful atmosphere was shattered by the sound of screams. People were running frantically as a new monster, created by another magical antenna, appeared in the lobby. This time, it was a massive mannequin with arms and hands but no legs, floating ominously.
"We need to stop that thing," Katrina said urgently, turning to Tisha. "Do you think you can handle it?"
Tisha nodded, her face resolute. "I'll do what I can. Let's take this thing down."
The mannequin lunged at them with surprising speed. Katrina and Tisha dodged its attacks, their movements fluid and coordinated. Katrina activated the ring she wore, creating strings from her hands and becoming invisible for brief moments to evade the mannequin's swipes.
"Take this!" Katrina shouted, launching a flurry of strings at the mannequin, entangling its arms.
Tisha, meanwhile, used her agility to dodge and strike at the mannequin's antenna, but it was heavily guarded. She picked up the ring from Katrina, her hands glowing with a faint light as she adjusted to its power. She became invisible, slipping past the mannequin's defenses and landing a solid hit on the antenna.
The mannequin roared, its form flickering as the antenna began to crack. Katrina took advantage of the opening, using her accelerated speed to deliver a powerful punch to the antenna, shattering it completely.
With a final, deafening scream, the mannequin collapsed into a pile of harmless materials.
"That was intense," Tisha panted, looking around. "But we did it."
Katrina nodded, wiping sweat from her brow. "Yeah, but we have a bigger problem now."
The entire building was on lockdown, with no way out and their phones rendered useless. Katrina's mind raced as she assessed their situation. "We're trapped. There's no signal, and all the exits are sealed."
Tisha looked around, her brow furrowed in concern. "We need to find a way out. Maybe there's an emergency exit or something."
Katrina shook her head. "I've already checked. The whole building is locked down tight. Our best bet is to find the source of this and destroy it."
"Alright," Tisha agreed, determination in her voice. "But we need to be careful. Who knows what else is lurking in here."
Katrina handed Tisha the ring. "Keep this. You might need it."
Tisha took the ring, slipping it onto her finger. "Thanks. I'll do my best."
They stood in the lobby, contemplating their next move. The once-bustling agency was now eerily silent, the occasional flicker of lights adding to the sense of unease. Katrina could feel the weight of the mysterious box in her bag, a constant reminder of the secrets and powers it held.
"Let's stick together," Katrina said, her voice steady. "We can figure this out."
Tisha nodded. "Agreed. Let's find whoever is behind this and put an end to it."
As they began their search, the tension in the air was palpable. Each step echoed in the empty hallways, and every shadow seemed to hold a hidden threat. Despite the fear and uncertainty, Katrina felt a surge of confidence. With Tisha by her side and the powers at her disposal, she was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
