The trio lounged comfortably on Petra's sofa, huddled around Feyverk's phone. The tiny screen displayed the classic Snake and Apple game, and they took turns navigating the ever-growing snake through the pixelated apples. The small size of the phone made it tricky, and they laughed heartily each time they accidentally crashed into the walls or themselves.
"This is impossible!" Katrina exclaimed as the snake crashed yet again.
Feyverk chuckled, taking the phone. "Here, let me show you how it's done."
They continued playing for a while, enjoying the simplicity and nostalgia of the game. After some time, Petra glanced at the clock and realized it was time to buy some groceries. "We're running low on food," she said, getting up. "Let's head to the store."
Katrina and Feyverk agreed, and they set off to the village store. The store was small but stocked with all the essentials. Petra grabbed a basket, and they began filling it with fresh bread, vegetables, cheese, and some canned goods. Feyverk found a display of colorful candies and added a few to the basket with a grin.
As they approached the counter to pay, they noticed the cashier was slumped over, fast asleep. Petra gently placed the money next to the worker, and they quietly exited the store, stifling their giggles.
"That was kind of funny," Feyverk said as they walked back, the bags of groceries swinging at their sides.
"It's strange, though," Katrina added. "Why was he asleep like that?"
They passed through the small park and saw a man sleeping deeply on a bench. Katrina was about to comment on it when they heard the loud rumble of an approaching truck. The truck veered dangerously towards them, the driver slumped over the wheel.
"Look out!" Petra shouted, quickly hurling a small rock at the driver's window.
The rock hit the window with a loud thud, jolting the driver awake. He saw the trio and swerved, narrowly avoiding them. He managed to stop the truck, his face pale with shock. "Thank you!" he called out, driving away more carefully.
"That's the second person we've seen asleep like that," Feyverk said, her brow furrowed. "Something's definitely not right."
As they continued discussing the strange occurrences, a girl appeared seemingly out of nowhere. She had a serene expression and an almost ethereal presence. "Hello," she said, her voice soft but carrying an undertone of authority. "I'm Seraphine."
Katrina eyed her warily. "Are you behind all these people falling asleep?"
Seraphine smiled enigmatically. "Yes, I am. And I'm here to ensure you don't interfere with our plans."
Before they could react, Laska appeared, stretching his arms to restrain them. Lars also emerged from the shadows, joining the fray. "You won't stop us this time," Laska growled.
A fierce battle ensued. Feyverk launched her fireworks at Laska, who dodged and stretched to counterattack. Katrina charged her fists, delivering powerful blows to Lars, who deflected them with his floating abilities. Petra hurled rocks at Seraphine, but she effortlessly dodged, moving with uncanny speed.
At one point, Feyverk managed to trap Laska with her fireworks, wrapping him in colorful, sparkling chains. But Seraphine saw the opportunity and quickly touched Feyverk, causing her to slump to the ground in a deep sleep.
"Feyverk!" Petra cried, desperately trying to move a larger rock to use against Seraphine. But Seraphine was too fast, and with a light touch, Petra fell asleep as well.
Katrina, seeing her friends incapacitated, charged at Seraphine, but she too was touched and fell into a deep slumber. Lars used his power to make the trio float, and Laska carried them easily, heading towards an abandoned farm at the village's edge.
They arrived at the dilapidated structure, placing the sleeping trio in the wooden part of the barn. Lars quickly took the souls book from Katrina, his eyes gleaming with triumph. When the trio woke up, they immediately chased after Seraphine, Laska, and Lars, determined to reclaim the book.
In the wide, open space of the farm, Katrina and Feyverk transformed into their amalgam forms. Laska stretched his fingers, creating a triple string that he, Seraphine, and Lars each took hold of. Together, they chanted, "Virenus magnus, sol et luna, anima unita."
Before the trio's eyes, the three merged into a single entity: Gloomy, a large figure reminiscent of an old cartoon character, but with a menacing presence. Gloomy possessed the combined abilities of all three, including a new power to make objects and people go softer, rendering them ineffective.
Katrina charged at Gloomy, but he touched her sword, making it soft and floppy. She tried to attack again, but Gloomy touched her, and she fell asleep instantly. Feyverk followed shortly after, her fireworks fizzling out as she was also put to sleep.
Petra was left to face Gloomy alone. She controlled her rocks with precision, launching them at the formidable opponent. But Gloomy's abilities were too much; he dodged and countered with ease. Petra fought valiantly, but Gloomy's combined powers overwhelmed her.
Just as Gloomy was about to deliver a crushing blow, a bright glow appeared in the distance. Verka, the fusion of Feyverk and Katrina, emerged, her form blazing with energy. Gloomy looked surprised. "How did you wake up so soon?"
Verka didn't answer. She transformed into a burning drill, spiraling towards Gloomy with incredible speed. The impact was explosive, causing Gloomy to defuse. Laska, Lars, and Seraphine fell to the ground, exhausted and defeated.
Katrina retrieved the souls book, clutching it tightly. Verka defused, and the trio stood together, victorious and resolute. They left the farm, knowing the battle was far from over but confident in their growing strength and unity.
As they walked back to the village, Petra looked at her friends. "We did it. But we need to be prepared. Camilla and her soldiers won't stop coming."
Katrina nodded. "We'll be ready. Together, we're unstoppable."
The sun was setting as they returned to Petra's house, the sky painted with hues of orange and pink. They felt a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, knowing they had each other's backs. The challenges ahead seemed daunting, but with their combined powers and unwavering friendship, they were ready to face whatever came next.
