POV: Saku
I double-checked my backpack to make sure I had everything before flinging it over my shoulder. Today was a big day. I'd finally decided to get a flute, and Shoji had insisted on coming along to help me pick it out.
Moralk's passion for music was infectious, and watching him effortlessly play the flute during our visit to his apartment had left a lasting impression. I was captivated by the way he breathed life into the instrument, making it sing with such clarity and emotion. It was then that I realized I wanted to experience that same connection to music. Moralk's encouragement and his belief in my potential inspired me to take the plunge and get a flute of my own. His words, "Music is a journey, not a destination," echoed in my mind as I made my decision, and I knew that this was a journey I wanted to embark on.
"Ready?" Shoji asked, his voice breaking through my thoughts. He was leaning against the doorway, his ever-present smile lighting up his face.
"Yeah, let's go," I replied.
We left the dormitory and headed down the stairs. The sun was shining brightly, casting long shadows on the pavement. The bus stop was just a few blocks away, and we walked at a brisk pace, eager to get to the music store.
"So, why the flute?" Shoji asked as we walked. "I thought you were more into string instruments."
"I am," I said, nodding. "But I've always loved the sound of the flute. It's so... ethereal, you know? Plus, it's portable. I can take it anywhere."
Shoji nodded. "Makes sense. I'm looking forward to hearing you play."
We reached the bus stop just as the bus pulled up. We boarded, found seats near the back, and settled in for the ride. The city blurred past the windows as the bus rumbled along, and I found myself thinking about the first time I'd heard a flute solo. It had been at a school concert, and I'd been mesmerized by the pure, clear notes that seemed to float in the air.
"Do you know what kind you want?" Shoji asked, interrupting my thoughts.
"I've done some research," I said, pulling out my phone to show him. "I've narrowed it down to a few models. I want something with a good tone, but I don't need anything too advanced since I'm just starting out."
Shoji glanced at the screen, nodding. "Those look good. We'll have to see how they feel in person."
The bus ride didn't take long, and soon we were stepping off onto a street lined with shops. The music store was just a short walk away, its sign visible in the distance. As we approached, the sounds of various instruments being played floated out through the open door.
