trigger warning:
word count:

Mattheo stayed in the guest bedroom for the night after the group had stared at the boy while he was shaking on the ground. They felt shitty for not helping but what where they supposed to do? Even if they tried they knew they weren't Brooke and she was the only one who ever was allowed to touch him when he was having a panic attack.

It was about 12 in the morning when Brooke started stirring in her sleep uncomfortably. Everyone, expect Mattheo, was fast asleep. A small scream left the girl's mouth as a cry did as well. Mattheo could recognize that anywhere and was to his feet in seconds, rushing to their room. When he opened the doors he saw her sitting up with a hand on her heart and tears streaming down her face.

They boy wasted no time before running to the bed and pulling her to his chest where she sobbed and gripped him tightly, scared this was a dream to. It was sad that she had gotten so used to him not being here she felt like she had to hold onto him so tightly because she was scared she would wake up and be alone.

"I killed Mil-" Her voice cracked and she let out a loud sob that she tried to cover with her hand. He gently pulled it away and smiled sadly.

"Let it out, scream, cry, hit me, punch me, anything you feel the need to do. Just let it out." He muttered softly, planting a gentle kiss to her forehead. But Brooke didn't move. She didn't cry. She didn't hit him like she had wanted to. She just stared at him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and curled against him.

The boy let out a breath in relief and pulled her closer, lifting the covers up and wrapping them over their bodies that were pressed against each other. Her body relaxed and she felt herself going into a peaceful sleep, for what felt like the first time in forever.

"Mattheo?" She asked in a whisper, not lifting her head up or anything. She kept it against his chest and tightened her grip on his shirt.

"Yes, love?"

"Why'd you leave?" She felt his body tense slightly.

"Because I was scared. I still am. But I was selfish because when I left I was only thinking of me." She nodded slightly and curled herself deeper into the boy. The doors to the bedroom opened and Mattheo turned his head to see Belle standing there with a small grin.

"I see the boy has finally come to his senses." He nodded at the same time the girl he was holding tightly did to.

"What are you doing up this late, Belle?" Mattheo asked as his hand slipped under her- well his shirt and began rubbing it gently up and down.

"I heard her crying and when I was about to walk in I saw you go in so I just hoped you were making the right choices. But I didn't want to keep you from her. I would've come in here and killed you if she was yelling at you to get out and you weren't though." She smiled innocently at the boy and it caused a small giggle to escape from Brooke.

Belle and Mattheo looked at each other and the boy felt tears go to his eyes, Belle soon following with the action. Belle walking over and sat down next to the couple, kissing the girl's hair and smiling softly.

"Everything will be okay. It may not be right now, but it will be. One way or another." She paused, "I promise you guys." Brooke nodded and let her eyes fall shut as she curled slightly into Mattheo, almost trying to get closer like it was possible. A little while later and a soft snore escaped the girl's lips, causing the 2 to smile.

"Don't leave her like you did again. Or else we will have serious problems." Before he could respond she was out the door, going back to her room to go back to sleep. Mattheo stayed up all night, just watching the girl he loved dearly sleeping soundly in his arms.

Maybe they would be okay.
