Since Mattheo had asked her about her miscarriage, Brooke seemed to allow herself to get better. The boy had realized that she was worried about him hating her, he knew that wouldn't ever be possible but she didn't and she was scared he would finally understand and blame her for Mila's death.

He would never.

The girl was leaving her room more often, her smile not straining her face, the glow she used to have slowly making its way back. It seemed like only Mattheo noticed this though. He would hear Belle and Daphne talking about how she still seemed so depressed. He didn't say anything to that but he simply smiled a tiny bit, and looked back down.

To him it was obvious she was getting better. She was more touchy, and she always wanted Mattheo with her. He didn't mind at all, he in fact liked it, but it showed him she was healing. Sadly, she would still have her nightmares but they weren't so bad that the girl would always wake up shaking and crying. She would just jolt up, and let herself drift back to sleep.

Now for Mattheo, he would still talk to his little girl. He genuinely didn't know if he would ever stop, even when he had another kid. He would always talk to his first little girl. Even if he has to celebrate in silence due to Brooke not wanting to talk about her, he would celebrate when her birthday was supposed to be. He hadn't been able to do it yet of course but he knew when the time came he 100% would. He loved Mila.

At the moment, the whole group was sitting in the living room, watching Brooke's favorite movie on a Muggle TV. Mattheo and Brooke were chilling on the couch, her head gently resting on his chest with an arm wrapped tightly around the girl's waist. A blanket was covering them both, warming the slightly shivering girl.

There was a bright smile on Brooke's face. Now she didn't know the name of the actor, she discovered was the word, but she loved him. He was so funny to the girl. Mattheo hated watching him due to this reason but it always made her smile so he would push through it. A funny part came up, and something happened that no one expected.

A laugh loud laugh bubbled through Brooke's throat.

Everyone stopped and Belle felt tears well in her eyes. No one had heard her laugh on what felt like forever. Her smile was there, but her laugh wasn't. It was something Mattheo longed to hear again. It was something that made him fall in love with her. He loved the way she laughed. Her bubbly laugh. He loved it so so much.

"What?" Everyone was staring at Brooke, making her confused as she passed to movie.

"You...you laughed?" No one wanted to make it a big deal but they were so fucking happy to hear the girl's laugh. They only realized how much they loved it when it was gone. Mattheo never needed it to be gone to love it, he loved it from the moment he met her, even if he didn't know it at the time.

"Yeah?"

"You laughed!" Everyone was setting up and rushing over to her, hugging the girl tightly. She was so utterly confused but she felt comfort at her friend's hugs so she didn't move or pull away, she enjoyed their touch she had missed.

When everyone pulled away she was being pulled into her boyfriends lap, his arms around her waist and his face being buried in her neck. She played gently with his hair when she felt something wet slide down her neck. She hugged him tighter. He hugged her tighter. She gently reached over and unpasued the movie for the group.

She stayed in his lap, playing with his hair. Eventually he pulled away with wet tired eyes. She cupped his cheek and wiped his tears. "Love, what is wrong?"

"I just...I haven't heard your laugh in so long and-" He chocked up, his voice breaking. "I don't wanna make you feel bad because you were struggling but I just missed it so much.." He tried smiling, looking at her chest. It was only when she sniffled that he looked up, seeing she was crying to.

"No baby, I know you aren't trying to make me feel bad. But I am doing better. You'll hear my laugh a lot more, my love." It was something so simple that made him so so happy. He smiled and kissed her nose gently, letting it linger there for a little while, their eyes falling shut. When he pulled away she tucked her head against his neck and melted into him. He lifted the blanket back up over their bodies.

Brooke's eyes fell shut, sleeping taking her over in pair of arms she knew no harm would ever lay a finger on her body.
