Christmas All Over Again

The boys continued to hunt while I was laid up. When they came back from the first hunt, I could tell tensions were still high. Somewhere along the way to getting to the bottom of bedtime stories gone wrong, they must've gotten in another fight...and it carried over until they got home.

"I told you it wasn't going to work and that I didn't want you to do it, but you did anyway!" Dean slammed through the front door, causing me to jump.

Sam pushed the door closed behind him. "Dean, I had to try. It could've been our way out."

Dean whirled around on Sam. "Did you ever stop just once to think that doing this could've killed you?"

"What the hell is going on?" I asked.

"Genius over here went and summoned a crossroads demon to shoot her with the Colt." Dean gestured to his brother.

"Sam, what were you thinking?" I stood up from the table.

"No, you know what, I'm tired of always being the bad guy here. You two sold your souls, and I'm the villain for wanting to get them back?" Sam threw his arms up. "Since when did saving people become evil?"

"Since it could cost you your life in the process, negating the deal in the first place!" Dean's face burned red with anger.

Both of their chests heaved, but it seemed they reached a stalemate. After a few seconds of alpha-male staredown, they went opposite directions. I stayed where I was debating where to go first.

"Knock, knock," I said as I stepped through the threshold of Sam's room. "Can I come in?"

"Yeah." Sam didn't look up at me.

I sat down beside him on the bed. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"No." Sam continued staring out the window.

After a tense pause, I said, "I'm sorry."

"Me, too." Sam shifted to look up at me.

"What's going on with you two?  I've never seen you fight like this. Is it just the stress?" I asked.

Sam moved to sit beside me. "No, I can't get what Jealousy said out of my mind. I know you understood it, too."

"Tenth commandment," I said. "'You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.' Do you really think Dean thinks of me that way? He's like a brother to me."

"I don't know," Sam said. "Losing Bianca is still so fresh for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he rebounded to having feelings for you. In a way, Bianca lives on in you."

"But that doesn't really matter, Sammy." I took his hand to get him to look at me. "I love you, Sam. You don't have to worry about losing me. I'm only yours."

"Mmm, I like the sound of that." Sam pressed a hot kiss to my lips.

I pulled away with regret in the pit of my stomach. "As much as I want to, I refuse to do it again with Bobby and Dean in the house. I think Dean heard us last time."

"Ugh, fine." Sam rolled his eyes. "Be that way."

"It doesn't bother you that your brother heard us having sex?" I asked.

"Yeah, you're right. That's pretty gross." Sam's nose scrunched in disgust.

"But you need to let this stupid fight go and respect Dean's wishes. It was dangerous to summon the crossroads demon." I raised my brows. "Maybe keep me informed, too. I'm sure you tried to get me out of my deal."

Sam tucked some loose hair behind my ear. "I did. I'm sorry."

"You should be." I poked his side.

Sam pushed my hand away from his side. "You're lucky that arm's still in a sling. Don't poke the bear. He tickles back."
