"Tell me your secrets. Ask me your questions. Oh, let's go back to the start."

New York City, 2017

(R.I.P. 2 My Youth, The Neighbourhood)

...

The Avengers aircraft landed at the Avengers headquarters, and an injured Clint Barton was immediately rushed away to have his wound tended to. The youngest unconscious Avenger was carried away fast, and wheeled off to another level of the tower to be critically assessed and psychologically tested. The team would hold their breath, waiting to see what she could or couldn't remember.

Maria expertly disguised the worry across her stern features, walking up to Tony. "Lab's all set up boss."

Tony ran a hand through his hair. "Uh, actually, he's the boss. I just pay for everything, design everything, and make everyone look cooler."

"What's the word on Strucker?" Steve questioned, looking up to meet Maria's sharp gaze as they packed up the last of their stuff, exiting the jet together.

"It's handled. NATO's got him."

"And the enhanced?" He asked, matching her strides as he glanced over the tablet in his hand, walking further into the Avengers tower.

"Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Twins. Orphaned at ten when a shell collapsed their apartment building. Sokovia's had a rough history. It's nowhere special but it's on the way to everywhere special.

The third seems a ghost story, there isn't any available intel other than the fact that Lucia might know her from HYDRA. But until we get the all-clear on her, it's a waiting game," she said to the Captain.

"And their abilities?" He asked, moving toward the elevator.

"He's got increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis," she listed off, almost smirking at the confused expression on the Captain's face. "Wanda's thing is neural electric interfacing, telekinesis, mental manipulation. The unnamed remains just that, we don't know enough to identify."

Steve frowned, utterly confused.

Maria chuckled. "He's fast and she's weird."

"And where are they all being placed now?" Steve asked, handing her back the tablet.

"A small holding cell in the tower, government agents will collect them once Stark has gathered as much intel as he can. It's best if we don't bother them, who knows if the cuffs will hold them long enough," Maria said, widening her eyes. "The boy seems to be wildly protective."

Steve sighed. "What does the file say for the twins?"

"File says that they volunteered for Strucker's experiments. They signed themselves up for HYDRA, it's nuts."

"Right. Because what kind of monster would let a German scientist experiment on them to protect their country?" Steve cocked his head to the side, stepping into the opened elevator.

"We're not at war, Captain," Hill said, eyes staring intently.

"They are."

...

Natasha observed the medical machine in interest, as it examined and x-rayed Clint's abdominal wound. "And are you certain that he's going to be okay?" She asked Dr. Cho, concern etched into her voice.

"Yeah, pretending to need this guy really brings the team together," Tony remarked, Clint, mocking his words playfully.

"There is no possibility of deterioration," Dr. Cho informed them. "The nano-molecular functionality is instantaneous. His cells don't even know that they're bonding with simulacra."
