Sokovia was located in Central Europe with the Czech Republic on one side, and Slovakia on the other. Like its neighbours, it had been engulfed entirely in political fights and warfare for many years. But that was the extent of the team's knowledge of the country, albeit a few of course.
The terrain was remarkably beautiful for such a desolate and war-ridden place. Surrounded by tall, snow-capped mountains, it looked like the destination that a family might want to visit. To stay in beautiful cabins, spending their days skiing, and their nights by the fire.
It was a place Lucia had long dreamt of but could have never imagined stepping foot in Sokovia, all trips solely for battle. It was dawn when they arrived, the sun barely breaking through the crispy morning. The sky and its people had not awoken fully.
Upon their landing, both Maximoff's and Beth lead the groups, knowing the way of the land the best, and after a gentle moment between all of the team, they all split up, ready for battle.
Pietro sped to inform the authorities that they should evacuate the city, whilst both girls ended up in the centre of the city, manipulating people's minds to leave.
While Lucia remained a couple of streets back, helping the elderly leave their homes, or reuniting little children who had lost their parents. She was scouting the area closely, looking for good vantage points, places for cover and most importantly where Ultron's bots would come through.
If they came from the sky, she would have to get somewhere high, near the city's outskirts, where she could take them out before they had a chance to do any harm.
Their collective goal was to get as many people as possible out before they decided to engage with Ultron, for they knew the second that battle began it would be a matter of life or death amidst great destruction.
The fewer civilian casualties, the better. Bruce had rushed to find Natasha, whilst her Dad had gone to find Ultron. The rest of them were responsible for getting the people out, as fast as they could and as many as humanely possible.
Wanda and Beth both stood in the city's centre, mind-controlling them all to leave, hands glowing by their sides. The people didn't understand, but they complied. They had no choice. Lucia couldn't even begin to imagine the terror that they would have been feeling, they were forced to leave their homes, without knowing what they would come back to.
With her hand on a woman's back as she safely guided the civilians into two lines, a sharp vibration shook beneath her feet, causing them both to stop in shock.
Softly nudging the woman to join one of the mindless lines out of the cobble-stoned streets, she pressed her comm, "No sign of a launching point for the Iron Legion. I'm gonna find a tall building towards the outskirts to set up camp to take them out as they come in."
"Copy that," Steve said in approval.
"Police officers have been notified, just don't ask how," Pietro's smug voice suddenly spoke up. She went to give a snarky reply and begin to move to a location before she went still, frowning as she stared intently at the slight tremor of the floor beneath her.
"Guys," she muttered into her comm. "Anyone else feeling that?"
Silence.
At first, she thought she was imagining it, mere trepidation, but then the concrete beneath her feet began to crack and shatter. Slammed to her knees, pieces of buildings began to fall and crash from the sky, as cars and people tipped off the cliffs created.
