He's a fool. Cairo Castillo is a fool.
A strong, manly man like him can't even keep a bar of chocolate in his hand. He sees a girl crying and his reaction is losing all strength in his veiny hands.
Well, I wasn't crying. I mean I was, but not severely crying. My hormones were all over the place. I blamed my period but I rarely cried, even on my period.
But, seeing what happened to Isabella, I couldn't get it out of my head. She was the sweetest person I had ever met. The sweetest person yet she was getting bullied. People were hurting her and she couldn't defend herself. Because I couldn't get that fact out of my head, I started crying.
I wanted to speak to her again. I wanted to find a way to keep her safe because I knew those girls wouldn't leave her alone. I wanted to speak to her. But, instead, I got her brother. Her brother who drops a bar of chocolate and then struggles to pick it up. I couldn't help but laugh.
I expect him to be annoyed by my life. I thought he'd walk away. Even throw the chocolate at my face and run out. But instead, he just stood there smiling. I never noticed he had dimples. I had never seen him smile before then. Cairo Castillo was smiling at me after he had made me laugh. What an unusual day.
"Is that for me then?" I teased.
"Um... well, uh-" he stuttered.
"Just give it 'ere" I said, putting my hand out.
He placed the chocolate in my hand before I examined it. Cairo Castillo had gotten me chocolate. Cairo Castillo was being nice to me. After had had given me his blazer to cover my legs, he was giving me chocolate. Two nice things on the same day. Weird. Very Weird.
"This isn't poisonous is it?" I questioned, arching my eyebrow. It had to be. He scoffed jokingly. I felt like he was pulling a prank on me, but I didn't care. If I died because of Cair Castillo at least it was because of chocolate. I didn't link mint chocolate, but I just needed something to take my mind off my cramps and Isabella.
He observed me as I took a bite out of the bar. It teased exactly like it sounded - pure mint. But, I didn't flinch at the unpleasant taste. I bit and swallowed.
I moved up on the bean bag to make some sort of space. I knew it wasn't enough since he was quite muscular but I couldn't just let him stand there watching me. I gestured for him to sit down. He hesitated a little bit, shocked that I was allowing him to come that close to me. I was even shocked at my actions but allowing him to sit was better than saying thank you. I could never say thank you to Cairo Castillo.
As our shoulders touched, we sat in silence for a while appreciating each other's company.
"What's this for?" I asked, "I hope you don't think this is for getting my Dad to buy your building".
"I said I'll help you when your Dad buys the building" he exclaimed.
"He did" I confirmed.
Turns out my skills of persuasion were a lot better than I thought. Before I even went to bed, my father had already placed an offer for the building the owners couldn't resist. He came into my room boasting about the look on Xavier Castillo's face when he'd found out my father had bought his building.
Most of the time he was there I was cuddled up with Amay, fully drugged up so I couldn't process everything he was saying. Luckily, my mum came and dragged him out, allowing me to wallow in my pain in peace.
"He did!" exclaimed he. He was surprised my father had actually done it. I couldn't blame him, so was I.
"So, yeah that means you have to help me now" I smirked.
