Love's Deadly Bloom [UNEDITED]

Chapter 5:

"MAY I BE EXCUSED!?!"

Everyone looked startled from the girl's sudden outburst, but Mr Wright thankfully excused her as he noticed she looked a little pale. Mr Wright added, "Make sure to visit the nurses office too, I'll call her and say it's an emergency..." She disregarded the confused stares as she got up, and she coughed some more. The itch in her throat was not going away and it was hard to breathe. Leilani quickly nodded as she took the nurses pass, and she quickly rushed out the room coughing crazily.

She hadn't been this sick since the winter of 6th grade. Maybe she got the flu? Although it wasn't flu season... Maybe she could call her mom? Nah, she shouldn't worry her mom. Besides, she's probably working at the floral shop. Can't interrupt her.

Leilani mumbled, "What the he-" Yet she was interrupted by a fit of coughing. She quickly covered her mouth as she quickly went into a bathroom stall and starting coughing, thinking she was sick. Little did she know she covered her mouth as she coughed and out came a beautiful flower petal. The petal of a gorgeous rose colored orchid. It hadn't fully bloomed, but it wasn't normal to be throwing up flower petals.

Her eyes widened in shock as she looked down at the flower petal. Where did it come from. She most definitely hadn't consumed any flowers, and she didn't ever throw up flowers. She felt her breathing stopping for a second as she grabbed her throat before collapsing on the ground. She hit her chest as she coughed. Tears welled up in her eyes as she didn't know what was going on.

Then it suddenly stopped. The pain was over, but there was a mess of flowers in the bathroom stall. They were painted bloody red as she looked at them. Why were such beautiful flowers cursing her? What did she do? Was it teasing Issac? Was it not paying attention in church? She was devoted to God, but she hated going to church! She just got tired of all of the people there, but she needed to respect them and be friendly. After all they weren't unbearable, but they were annoying.

Leilani heard Flower by Jisoo in the background as she coughed again; somehow it fit the mood.

She wiped her mouth as she felt a little blood. Why was she coughing up blood? She would have to search this up instantly afterwards. Leilani got up as she put the flower petals and flushed them down the toilet before washing her face a bit, and her hands were next. That girl who was playing Flower got caught having her phone in the bathroom and got detention. Leilani thankfully just made it look like she was just washing her hands after using the bathroom like a sanitary person.

Leilani still felt her throat scratchy, but she had to endure it. She didn't need another outbreak again, and hopefully the nurse would let her go home early. She quickly went on her way to the nurses office, which wasn't very far away. Leilani sighed as she entered the nurses office, she saw the nurse, Nurse Judy.

Although there was another kid there, some random sixth grader, she sat down on a bed as Nurse Judy instructed. Nurse Judy said, "Are you sick, Leilani? Mr Wright told me that you looked a little pale and a like you were about to throw up." Leilani took a deep breath as she said, "Yeah, I just threw up a bit. Can I go home for today?" The nurse nodded as she gave Leilani a trash can, and she continued to call Leilani's mother to inform her to pick Leilani up.

Soon enough Leilani was lying in bed with a bucket next to her, bloody flower petals thrown away, and she felt like shit. She groaned as she got up, and she was blasting music in her headphones as she sighed. She did not want to get up from her bed as she felt her throat trying to basically kill her. Her mother was downstairs brewing up some tea to help her.

Although Leilani had no idea why this was happening to her, she decided to search it up. Maybe it was just some random hallucination thing. Leilani searched it up, and there was only random things for flesh eating bacteria stuff. However, instead of finding anything resourceful, she found information on a disease called Hanahaki. Hanahaki Disease, was the beautiful flower disease. It was the fictional disease to where someone's unrequited love would slowly suffocate them with the gorgeous flowers.

It was fictional

It wasn't real

It was for a fantasy

So why, why did Leilani have the fictional disease? Leilani coughed up another flower, this time it would be the last for another hour. Her stomach and neck hurt so much. Her ears were ringing as she felt like she couldn't hear anything. Leilani looked at the flower with disbelief as she muttered,

"Wait, how do I have a fictional disease?..."
