A/N: The drawing is by me/myself/I
Also I've been suffering from some writing block, so I've been focusing on more art and anime stuff.'Why me?'
Leilani thought as she woke up in cold sweat. She was trembling as she looked around her room. She was back in her bed with the same old mirror, the same old pile of tutoring homework, and the same old clean bedroom. Well, not completely clean. There was a trash can in her room that had the bloody petals as she looked down in it. Next week she would be able to go back to school, but how would she hide all the blood? How would she hide all of the petals she could cough up.
As soon as she got out of her bed she noticed that it was 3 am on a Monday midnight. She looked outside of her window as she saw that it was a full moon and it was shining against her face. She sighed as she plopped back onto her bed with the moon's shine still bright. She decided that she would probably try to hide the petals somehow.
Leilani covered herself with her blanket as she groaned. She looked over at her clock to see that time didn't pass by fast enough. She hated that she was on the brink of exhaustion, but she couldn't sleep. Soon she just opened up her phone as she put her earbuds in.
Then she spent hours mindlessly scrolling through TikTok. She saw weird trends, weird dances, and even more random drama.
After all of those hours wasted she grumbled in her classroom. She wore a mask with the excuse of saying that she was coughing a lot because she had a sore throat. Although band class was a bit hard to cover up, but she found a system. It had suddenly become a bit less severe. Leilani was playing the flute as they were practicing an ensemble. It was hard to contain her coughs as she continued to play her flute. Issac noticed, but it was hard to see since Leilani was in the front while Issac was more near the back.
Mrs Baylee noticed as after class she pulled Leilani aside. Mrs Baylee stated, "Hey Leilani, how're you doing? I don't think you should be coming to school when you're sick, kiddo." Leilani nodded before responding, "I'm not sick, Mrs Baylee. I just have a sore throat, and-" She started coughing a bit again. Thankfully the mask hide the flower petals. They were small, but she knew this stage would probably be over soon enough."-As I was saying I just have a lot of itches in my throat. Besides, it's the first week of school. I don't think it's a good idea to skip more than a week of school. I don't want extra work to pile up, you know?" Mrs Baylee nodded understanding as she put her hand on Leilani's shoulder. Mrs Baylee said, "If you ever feel sick, just step out of class, okay?" Leilani nodded as she got a pass, and she quickly headed off to history.
In history, Leilani sat next to Blyss, Vicky, and Nari. Their history teacher was chill, and had a simple set of rules which made the kids in her class instantly like her. Somehow this was one of her chill and calm classes. Coach Mc assigned them a simple and easy assignment; therefore the class was basically a free period for most students. Meanwhile, Leilani, Blyss, Vicky, and Nari had a little chat about Leilani's sudden disappearance.
Vicky argued, "Leilani, where. Have. You. Been?! Girl you stranded us all on deserted island without any warning!" Nari added, "What she meant was that you haven't answered any of our texts, calls, or even visits! Are you feeling better? Shouldn't you be at home? Did you get Covid?" "No no!" She said with a warm smile while giving her friends a reassuring look, "I just had a fever, and this mask is because I'm coughing too much and it's getting annoying. I also didn't touch my phone at all because I was sick, and my mom confiscated it so I mainly slept, read a book, and finished my extra mountains of homework.... So I wasn't doing any fun stuff..."
Meanwhile, her best friend, Blyss, was surprisingly staying quiet as she just twiddled and fumbled with her pencil. Leilani noticed as she looked at Blyss with a more worried expression. Leilani asked, "Hey Blyss? You feeling okay?" Blyss blinked as she was transported out of Lala land to reality. Blyss put on her normal smile as she looked up at Leilani. Blyss replied, "I'm doing great! It's just... My brother is the worst tutor ever! He keeps on bugging me about some stupid math problem, which he's solving wrong!"
The other three girls looked at Blyss with an apathetic expression before bursting into fits of giggles and laughter of pity. Blyss looked annoyed as she sarcastically whined, "Jeez, thanks for being such supportive friends! How lucky am I?" Vicky remarked, "Hey! We're not the ones with an uptight older brother for a tutor. Just ask Little Miss Perfect over here. I'm sure, she's be glad to help!" Nari stayed quiet as usual as she was spacing our before she looked up. "Wait, who're we talking about?"
Leilani laughed a little at Vicky's description of Leilani. Leilani responded, "I'm pretty sure I'm not what your imagination says I am. I'm far from little miss perfect, thank you very much!" Vicky said, "Oh yeah! You've also won the award for little miss over thinker!" Vicky and Blyss snickered as Leilani looked at those two with a blank stare. "Ha. Ha. Very funny," She said as she turned over to face her other friend, Nari before saying, "Well Nari over here isn't in your immature shenanigans. Right Nari?"
Nari looked up as she looked at Leilani then Vicky and Blyss before replying,
"Yeah, I guess..."
