"Where do you think you're going, young lady? Aren't you forgetting something?"
Leilani slowly turned around to face her mortal enemy, the teacher of every eighth grader's nightmare, Mrs Haine. Leilani internally groaned as she looked up and she gave a crooked smile towards the demon teacher. "Hey Mrs Haine," She muttered as she showed a note to her teacher, "So this is my mother's note. I was helping her out at her floral shop.." Mrs Haine looked down at the note for a millisecond before rolling her eyes. Mrs Haine chuckled as she chortled, "Do you really expect me to believe this is your mother's handwriting. Detention. No exceptions."
The brunette looked down at the detention slip in horror. She had never ever received one in middle school, and she was hoping it would've stayed that way. Of course the first middle school final boss would hand her one. Kind of like in her younger brother's games, but worse. Leilani stuttered, "B-but my handwriting isn't in cursive Mrs Haine-" Mrs Haine covered her mouth as she glared at her, "Do you really want to be talking back to me, Laleini? Now get to your seat. I've decided to change the seating arrangements so go sit next to Issac."
The girl slumped as she had to force herself to walk towards her new seat next to a familiar trumpet player. She put her backpack down as she slowly put her backpack next to her seat as she placed the detention slip on her newfound desk. Issac teased, "Guess you just got detention, Leilani. Oh wait, my bad! I meant to say Laleini!" Leilani glared at him as she said, "Buzz off, Issac. You don't have any reason to be acting like an annoying bee today... Hey..." She noticed quickly that her pencil case was missing.
The bookworm also happened to notice that she found a very familiar looking pencil case under the two desks. Issac was stifling his laughter as she looked up at him in disbelief. "Seriously?" She asked as she picked up her pencil case, "Didn't you do the same little pranks in sixth grade? That's just stopping low dude.." Issac was still stifling his laughter as Leilani slowly smiled. Issac asked, "But didn't it make you laugh too?" Leilani rolled her eyes as she remarked, "Laughing and smiling are two different things genius. Now can you please be quiet; we'll actually fail math if we don't pay attention anytime sooner."
Before they could they could feel eyes staring deep enough to burn them alive if stares could kill. "Got anything to share with the class Giggles 1 and Giggles 2? Are you trying to get a second detention, Laleini? Detention! Both of you!" "See what I mean, Issac?" Leilani whisper yelled as she groaned and put her head on her desk, "That lady is out to get me..." Issac muttered, "Well, then can I blame the detention on you? It's not my fault she caught us."
Soon enough class was over and she was finally free from the terrors of math. Leilani sighed as she started to pack up quickly so she could get out of the classroom as soon as she could. She could bear the thought of spending another second inside of Mrs Haine's classroom. Issac did the same as they didn't talk. Although there wasn't any classic awkward silence. More like a peaceful and comforting silence. It was like a miracle between the two. Even though they weren't very close, they have known each other for about 2 years. It didn't mean there was nothing between them.
Anyways, Mrs Haine decided to cosplay a hawk as she stared at the two for a menacing two minutes as she decided to remind those two on their little punishment. She said, "Issac, Laleini. You two better come after school or it's double detention for you.." Leilani gulped and Issac just frantically nodded. The two definitely did not want another detention slip. Issac didn't need or want one because he had band practice tomorrow. On the other hand, Leilani had band practice on Thursdays, so she was fine. However, she did not want her mother to know that she had two detention slips, so she would just have to try to lie.
"Don't worry Mrs Haine. We'll be at detention...."
