Chapter 6:

A/N: I took a break for Six Flags with my cousins and brother and I had writers block for a little while

"Wait, how do I have a fictional disease?...

It took her hours as she researched over and over and over. She couldn't find anything new. All she found were the same words over and over again. Fictional disease. How would she out of anyone have a fictional disease. Life wasn't some fantasy where your dreams come true. People come in go as they hurt you, or you meet some of the closest friends you feel like you'll ever make. It's just how life went. Leilani felt sick. She did all the research she could, but she managed to grab onto some useful information.

First of all, the Hanahaki diesease is used as a fictional trope for ships in anime/manga. Second of all, usually the victim of Hanahaki has unrequited love. Third of all, the Hanahaki diesease goes through a few phases. Phase 1 consists of the victim to cough up small flower petals covered in splatters of blood, phase 2 has the victim cough up bloody flower buds, phase 3 has the victim cough up full bloomed flowers covered in specks of vomit and blood, and phase 4 has the victim suffocated by the growing flowers until they are dead. It's a slow and painful process and each phase can take 2 to 8 weeks. It all depends on how much love or care the victim has for the other one.

The only cure was by surgery, or reciprocated feelings from the other...

At least Leilani knew what she was dealing with, and she did have an idea on who she liked. Issac. Although she didn't know really why she liked him. He wasn't that bad looking, had a sense of humor, and was overall an okay guy. However she didn't really want to like him. She didn't want to like anyone romantically during middle school. Leilani didn't want the feelings to get in the way of her goal, and her last crush in 6th grade did that exact thing.

The poor girl had a crush on a random guy for no reason, and it messed with her head. Especially since it was finals; she couldn't push her feelings away. Leilani also wanted to focus on her friends like the bus friend group which consisted of Blyss, Vicky, and Nari. Blyss was Leilani's best friend ever since 6th grade. They were all in band, they both loved to watch foreign shows/movies, and they all had a big sweet tooth. Vicky and Nari were also some of Leilani's best friends, but Blyss was the best one as the childhood one reunited with her in 7th grade.

Sadly, Leilani had the bucket next to her covered with bloody petals that came from her from the past week. Leilani had been sick for almost a week, and it was killing her. She had to go back to school, or she would have way too much homework. Sure, she had a tutor who was just teaching her, but at this rate she could possibly have to go to summer school. Which she couldn't afford. Leilani got up from her bed, her hair was all tangled up into one big mess, and she forgot where she placed her glasses.

The bags under her eyes were very noticeable as she grumbled. She had to finish some homework as she opened up her school iPad and started to work on some assignments. Thankfully her teachers had some details about the assignments and premade notes, so it was easy to finish them. Next week she would be going back to school, and she was not excited. She didn't want to go back as she knew that she would have to see him frequently.

Every time he would get to her. The butterflies fluttering around freely, her chest feeling like it would explode, and how the room would suddenly get a bit more brighter than the dim classroom would already be.

It. Made. Her. Sick

Leilani really wanted to be just friends, but she knew deep down in her heart she didn't. She really wanted something to get her mind off of the whole situation, so she started watching a new anime called Hell's Paradise. It was a bit complex and very interesting to the 8th grader. Aside from all of the nudity, sexual scenes, and violence, the storyline was pretty tragic and complex. It wasn't mindless. It was refreshing for the girl. However, the elixir did remind her of the disease. Although it was more horrifying as the tan was basically dead humans turned into flowers turned into an elixir to stay youthful.

"Leilani!~ Someone's here to see you!... GET DOWN HERE YOUNG LADY!"
