This is your new home, Meera.
Meera reminded herself as she looked at the beautiful two-storey house in front of her.

The house in front of her was huge compared to her small home back in her town.
It was a two-storey home with a bit of Indian and modern touch.

Meera felt emotions clog her throat as she tried to blink her tears back. No matter what she did all she could think about was that she was now all alone in this world.
She didn't have a family anymore.

She never had a family to begin with but her father was her everything. Her entire world revolved around him.
Now when he left her she didn't feel like her life was worth living anymore.

"Meera!?" A soft voice from behind her startled her.
She knew who was it.
The reason she was here, her bestfriend Saumya Vyas.

When Meera was absent from her college for a week, a worried Saumya took matters into her own hands and came to find her.

Although tired from the whole world, Meera had decided to give up on everything; Saumya, by some miracle, had instilled hope inside Meera again.

"You are not just giving up on your life, Meera; you are giving up on the hope your father had about you. You know what your father had gone through for you to be where you are. Giving up would only prove all his hard work to be in vain. Think about it, Meera."

Saumya's voice rang through her head as Meera turned to her.
She saw Saumya moving towards her with one of Meera's suitcases.

Right when entering the main gate there was a small but beautiful garden. Small plants and flower trees made it all look so pretty.

Her own hands were busy with two of her bags.
"Let's go; I think everyone would be home right now," Saumya said hurriedly as she looked at her watch. "I will introduce you to everyone."

Both of the young girls moved towards the gate of the house.
Saumya rang the doorbell excitedly. This was the first time she was ever bringing a friend home. Especially if she was going to live here.

The gate was opened by a woman who looked approximately to be in her late forties or early fifties. She had her hair in a messy bun. She was a beautiful lady.
She smiled, looking at her daughter, her face that was previously in a frown now slowly relaxing.

"Couldn't you just ring the doorbell like a normal being?" She had a soft scolding tone in her voice as she spoke. Meera could feel the motherly feeling she gave.

"Ma, you know Saumya and normally do not belong in one sentence," Saumya exclaimed softly, hugging her mother tightly. She was meeting her after four whole days so it was understandable.

The woman's eyes darted towards Meera as she got out of Saumya's arms.
"Meera, this is my mother, the peace of the house, Radha Vyas. She makes the best food in this world, but beware, she could make you fat." Saumya's introduction put a smile on both of their faces.

"And Ma, this is Meera Srivastav, my best friend; she talks less but is beautiful, so I keep her like my charm." Saumya introduced teasingly.

It was always a running joke between them that Meera didn't talk while Saumya talked very much, so Saumya kept saying that Meera was her charm.
Her logic was always beyond Meera.

Radha Vyas smiled at Meera, the kind of smile someone gives, and it brings one to your face itself. She comes forward and hugs Meera softly.

The hug felt so homey so motherly even, that Meera felt her eyes tear up. Her lips trembled softly.

Radha took Meera's face in her hand as she wiped her tears.
"Such beautiful eyes are not meant to be crying, beta." Radha's voice had so much love and compassion.

The three of them then started going inside the house. Which now Meera noticed was just as beautiful from the inside as the outside.

Radha gave them space to come inside as she held one of the bags Meera was holding, taking it from her hands. There was a small hallway as they entered the house. It was lit with beautiful lights and decorated with small decor pieces. There was a small Ganpati Bappa statue there right at the entrance.

Meera, in her mind, said a quick prayer and asked Bappa to be with her on this journey.

As the hallway ended there was a huge living space there. There were long L-shaped sofas right beside the end of the hallway. Then, beside where the sofa was situated, there was a dining table that had twelve chairs.

After the dining table, there was an almost circular sitting area. There were cushions there. She looked around it to find a TV right in front of the circle sitting area.

A sound from somewhere distracted her as she looked around some more. In front of the dining table, there was the kitchen. The kitchen had a golden and white finish. And Meera could swear that she had never seen such a pretty kitchen ever. Right in the middle of it was 'the magic place' written with neon lights.

"We gifted this to Ma on this Mother's Day. You know there's this joke in this house that in this kitchen, Ma makes magic happen. So we call this the magic place." Saumya's excited voice made Meera turn towards her.

She smiled at Saumya. Meera had always admired everything Saumya did. In her eyes, Saumya was someone, even if sometimes excited over small things, she was the voice of reason. Meera adored the twinkle in Saumya's eyes. She hoped that nothing ever made her sad. Especially now when Saumya had done so many favours in the name of friendship for her.

"Somu, you are back!?" A man's voice shook her out of her reverie. Meera had seen pictures of Saumya's family members, but she never met them except for her father, who often dropped her to college.

So she was not surprised when she saw him in his button-ups just ready to leave the house. Meera knew Saumya's family owned two supermarkets. The second one was pretty new because she had visited once.

He smiled when he saw his daughter. A feeling close to sadness hit Meera again. Her father used to smile like that for her too. He will never smile like that for her again.
