Jiwoo hummed a cheerful tune as he walked down the bustling street, eager to get home after a long day. The warmth of the afternoon sun felt good against his skin, and his spirits were high. As he passed by a row of houses, something caught his eye—a sleek, sun-dappled cat lounging lazily on a fence. Jiwoo's face lit up with pure delight.

Without hesitation, he approached the feline, shifting his bag from his back to his chest. He rummaged through it, searching for the small packet of cat treats he always carried. "Here, kitty," he cooed, pulling out a treat and holding it up with a smile. "Are you hungry?"

The cat eyed the treat with a mix of suspicion and curiosity, its body tense and ready to spring away if necessary. Jiwoo's smile softened, sensing the animal's hesitation. He gently placed the treat on the edge of the fence. "It's okay," he said reassuringly. "It's safe to eat. You can trust me."

Slowly, the cat stretched its neck forward, sniffing at the treat before gingerly taking it into its mouth. Jiwoo's smile broadened, his heart swelling with joy at the small victory.

Unbeknownst to Jiwoo, Wooin had been trailing him since they left school. He watched from a distance, his eyes narrowing slightly as he observed Jiwoo's interaction with the stray. The boy's easy kindness and the way he lit up around animals were in stark contrast to Wooin's own guarded nature.

"Jiwoo Seo," Wooin finally called out, his voice cutting through the soft hum of the street. He decided it was time to confront Jiwoo and get some answers.

Jiwoo looked up, surprise flickering across his face before it melted into a welcoming smile. "Wooin! Nice seeing you here!" he said brightly, as if bumping into Wooin was the most natural thing in the world.

Wooin walked closer, his expression impassive. "Where did you get that cat?" he asked, his tone flat and devoid of warmth. He had no intention of making small talk.

Jiwoo blinked in confusion, glancing back at the cat still perched on the fence. "This cat?" he repeated, his brow furrowing. "It's not mine. I just saw him here and thought he looked hungry, so I gave him a treat."

Wooin's lips tightened into a thin line. "Not that one," he said with a hint of impatience. "I'm talking about the black-striped cat you had with you last night."

"The cat from last night?" Jiwoo echoed, his face clearing as he remembered. "Oh! You mean the one I was taking to the vet. You saw me?"

Wooin nodded silently, his gaze unwavering.

Jiwoo's expression softened as he explained, "I've seen that cat around before. He disappeared for a while and then suddenly reappeared looking really hurt. I just wanted to help him. That's why I decided to take him to the vet. Why do you ask?"
