Maeve's Point of View
I loved showering, weird thing to say right? But I did.
I could spend an hour under the scalding hot water and felt as I had been there only a minute.
It was therapeutic.
I could forget about everything and simply relax for a while.
No bullies.
No violent uncles.
No absent aunts.
No unpredictable boys.
Just peace.Once I got out of my bathroom, I felt significantly better than before.
All the rainwater was finally out of my skin and my hair, and I no longer felt sticky.
Worst sensation in the world.
I put Shannon's dress back in her part of the closet and then looked over to mine to grab tank top and a pair of leggings.
Once I was satisfied enough with my appearance I took the towel I had wrapped around my hair and threw it in the laundry bin.
Did I purposefully choose very tight clothes that I would never wear at the house just because Johnny Kavanagh was here? I might have. With my hair still damp, I headed downstairs and found on the couch both Shan and Gibsie but no sign of the other two.
I would have gone to Joey's room to search for them had I not been distracted by what was on the telly."Are you watching totally spies?" I laughed while looking at the screen.
They both turned around to look at me, Gibsie smirking at me and Shannon looking like a deer caught in headlights."Is that judgement I hear in your voice?" Gibsie shot back. "I'll have you know that watching cartoon is very important for your inner child."
"Of course, I would never suggest the opposite." I rolled my eyes. "I would however ask that you let my sister go, since she looks like she's being held there against her will."
"That's not true, is it Little Shannon?" He gave her the best puppy eyes he could.
"Uhm, actually I have to go upstairs and catch up on some of the homework I've missed." Shan admitted. "I'm already pretty behind on most subjects, I don't want it to get any worse."
"Alright, you have my blessing." Gibsie declared. "You may leave me here with just this cartoon hating creature for company."
"You know you are more than welcome to leave if you don't like my company." I gestured to the door.
"I never said that." Gibsie noted. "I merely pointed out the fact that you don't give cartoons their deserved appreciation."
"Besides Kav is still talking with your brother, it would be rude to just leave him here without any notice.""What are they talking about, anyway?" I inquired.
"There's only one way to find out." He got up from the couch, headed to my brother's room and put his head on the door.
"You know, this almost makes me feel nostalgic.""What are you talking about." I looked at him.
"Of the day I caught you snooping on Johnny, and you agreed to become my friend."
"It was this Monday." I pointed out.
"Ah, yes." He sighed. "I have such fond memories of that day."
To that statement the response I could form was a glare."Save me a bit of space, you big eejit." I whispered. "You're occupying all of the door."
"Do you hear something." He whispered back. "I don't hear anything."
"That's because you keep talking." I answered. "Just shush for a second."
At that moment I heard laughter on the other side of the door getting every second more near."Gibs." I spoke.
"Yeah." He glanced at me.
"They're about to open the door." I heard them walking towards us.
"Shit." He panicked.
"Shit." I panicked.
Just as we heard the lock turning Gibsie and I both ran for the sofa as quietly as we could and settled in what would be considered a normal, comfortable position with me sitting incredibly still on my part and Gibsie occupying most of the space, with his legs over mine."Seriously." I half whispered half showered. "Get your legs off me."
"I can't." He looked at me helpless. "I'm stuck."
"What do you mean you're stuck?" I stressed. "Just get off me."
"I can't." He emphasised. "When I threw myself on the sofa, I hit something and now my legs are stuck. They're all tingly now, I think I need five minutes."
"I can't believe this." I exclaimed. "How do you play rugby if the minute something touches your legs you're basically paralysed."
"Because I didn't hit my legs, I hit my balls." He bit out. "And now I feel like I'm going to die from the pain, so give me five minutes."
"How are we supposed to explain to them the fact that you're half sprawled on top of me?" I proposed.
"We'll just say we're comfortable in this position." Gibsie reasoned. "I'm a great cuddler."
To that I threw Gibsie's legs off mine and ignored his whimper of pain.
"Alright, that was deserved." Gibsie admitted. "To my defence it sounded less creepy in my head.""What sounded less creepy in your head?" said Johnny while entering the living room.
"Skinny dipping." Gibsie lied. A terrible lie apparently, since no one believed it.
"You don't like water." Johnny stated while my brother gave him a death glare.
"Do you actually have a death wish?" Joey spoke. "Maeve, help me get this lunatic out my house before I kill him."
