Maeve's Point of View
Once the two massive rugby players were out of my house, I finally had a moment to relax and think about all that had gone down in the last two days.
I had a fight with Johnny Kavanagh.
I regretted the fight with Johnny Kavanagh.
I went to his game.
I got thrown into his car.
I had a panic attack in said car.
I ran away on foot in the middle of a rainstorm.
I made up with Aoife and Casey.
I fought again with Aoife and Casey.
Reached a tentative truce with Johnny Kavanagh? I don't know. I wasn't mad at him I guess and he didn't seem angry at me either.I gave myself a pat on the back for not being a complete asshole to anyone this morning.
I didn't scream profanities to Aoife or Casey for suggesting calling the authorities, I just walked away. Joey would have been proud.
I didn't even tell Johnny Kavanagh to go fuck off to the farthest part of the earth after throwing me in his car.
I simply pretended like the accident never happened – thus I had no particular reason to be angry at him, other than his existence.
Ignore it until it goes away is the new way I'm going to handle Johnny Kavanagh.
Boys like him are... I don't even know.
All I know is that now I'm going to steer clear of him.
Professional athletes are dicks – the lot of them.Deciding to avoid talking to Joey for the time being, since I still had to ask him if he agreed with Aoife and Casey, I went upstairs to my room where I knew Shannon was already studying.
"Hey, Shan." I greeted. "What are you revising?"
"Science." She replied.
"Of course you are." I rolled my eyes.
"What else should I be studying?" She shot back.
"Maths and accounting. Since you know, you suck at those." I mentioned.
"Okay, ouch." She started. "I don't suck, I just don't excel either."
"Uh-huh." I laughed. "What was your last grade in accounting?"
"Oh! Look at that, someone's calling me." She gestured to her phone.
"Why isn't it ringing?" I wondered.
"I put it on silent." She exclaimed.
"Then how did you know someone was calling you?" I pointed out.
"I felt the vibrations." She reasoned.
"How come I didn't feel them?" I remarked
"I'm equipped with senses far above the average human." She rebuked.
"Far above indeed." I mocked her. "How eloquently you speak."
"Hey, I could have them." She bit back.
"Sure, and in my spare time I could be a cabbie." I spoke. "Except I can't get into a car, and you get panic attacks if I come into the room unannounced."
"That only happened once, and you said you wouldn't bring it up again." She murmured. "By the way, what happened yesterday?"
"What do you mean?" I feigned innocence.
"I mean that this morning two rugby players rang our doorbell to check how you were." She said looking serious. "Did something happen at the game?"
"There are two versions of this, the long story and the short one, which do you prefer?" I gave her the options.
"The short one, I have to get back to study since apparently I suck at accounting."
"Your loss." I conceded. "Gibsie ditched me and I had a panic attack in Johnny Kavanagh's car which led me to run away in the rain to go Tony's car shop, where I talked things through with Aoife and Casey, but then proceeded to ruin everything once again in the morning."
"No, I'm going to need the long version." She looked at me confused.
"Told you." I sighed.
"By the way, why do you still call Johnny Kavanagh, Johnny Kavanagh."
"What else should I call him?"
"I mean, he came to our house, you can drop the last name." She commented. "You call the other one by a nickname."
"Everyone calls Gibsie by his nickname and Boy Wonder came by uninvited." I concluded.
"Boy Wonder is that your nickname for him?" she looked at me all wide-eyed before bursting out laughing. "Aw."
"Don't aw me, gross." I responded.
"Boy Wonder and Sunshine, a match made in heaven." Shannon gushed.
"More like in hell." I vocalised.
