Chapter 21 - Runaways

Kian sets my phone on the table and stands up while putting his hands behind his head.

I can't move and just shakily sit on the couch.

This is my best friend...what secrets could she hold...

"Let's go"

"What..?"

"Jul we need to go see what she's up to"

"Kian I..I don't think I can"

Kian looks over at me and sees how scared I am and rushes over to me and pulls me onto his lap.

"Jul don't be scared, maybe there's a reasonable explanation to this..maybe her uncle is in there or something"

I just nod and look off into the distance, trying to wrap my mind around this.

"Okay..let's go, I'm ready now"

Kian nods and stands with my hand in his.

I can tell its taking him everything right now not to punch a wall..I can see the anger is his eyes, his other fist clenched.

"I'm going to call Sam & Jc, Sam and I will go in and see what she's up to and Jc can be with you, he's amazing at calming people down"

I just smile and nod, holding on to Kian's arm so I don't fall and start crying.

Before we get in the car Kian stands in front of me and puts one of his hands on my cheek, his other arm goes around my waist.

He smiles, "Jul..you are beautiful.. I haven't told you that lately..and everything will be okay.. whatever we find out about Em.." He sighs, "if its bad, that just means she isn't a good friend to you"

I nod and look at my feet, but he takes his hand and lifts up my chin, then leans down to give me a kiss.

I kiss back and we separate and head into the car.

Kian gives me his phone so I can call Jc and Sam.

I look at his lockscreen wallpaper, "Where did you get this picture of me!?"

"I just took that picture when you were laughing and looking really happy..you look cute"

I just roll my eyes at the picture I would call really ugly, and enter his password to see his homescreen wallpaper, which is him and his sister.

I smile and continue to call Sam and Jc...

"Kian I will never ever ever EVER, understand how Jc beats us everywhere we go"

"Same here, its kinda scary"

We pull into the visitor section of the parking lot and see Jc already parked there sitting on the hood of his car playing on his phone.

We park next to him and get out.

"Hey dudes wazzup!?"

"Sup Jc" I reply and give him a hug.

"Hey Caylen" Kian says and gives him a weird guy hug.

"Where's Sam?" Kian questions.

"Oh he's been looking over the building, finding exits and what not, I got here so fast I had time to pick up Sam and get a taco from Taco Bell along the way" Jc says, obviously proud of himself.

"I will never understand how you can do ALL that and still beat us when we were already driving here"

"My baby never let's me down" Jc says, referring to his car.
