"Grief Is Like The Ocean

It Comes In Waves, Ebbing And Flowing

Sometimes The Water Is Calm And Sometimes It Is Overwhelming

All We Can Do Is Learn To Swim."

The gathering at the cemetery was a small one, yet there wasn't a dry eye present. Angie, Mary Margaret, David, Regina, Robin, Hook, Henry, Emma, and Belle all attended. Everyone watched somberly as Neal's coffin was lowered into the ground. Emma clutched Henry tighter as the coffin finally touched the ground. Angie knelt down to Henry's level and held him as well. Emma had told him that Neal was his father. The knowledge that his father was dead and he never got to see him again caused Henry to start crying. Angie wanted to tell Henry that it was all going to be alright, but it wasn't. And it would never be.

Hook took the first step forward, retrieving the shovel from the pile of dirt. He scooped up a small amount of earth and held it over the small pit. At first, he hesitated. Angie knew why. The second that dirt went on the coffin, Neal would truly be gone. Gently, Angie curled her right hand around her left forearm. She squeezed it, not hard enough to hurt, but enough to show encouragement. Hook took a breath and poured the dirt into the hole. He turned around and handed the shovel to Regina.

Regina took a slightly larger amount of dirt and dumped it into the hole before handing the shovel to David, who poured a small amount of dirt onto the glass coffin. Then, he handed the shovel to Belle, who took a small amount as well. Belle handed the shovel to Angie next. Angie felt frozen in place before a comforting squeeze on her left forearm convinced her to start moving. She took a large amount of dirt from the pile, breathed in deeply, and dumped it into the hole.
